Wouldn't that be nice if she was term limited?
There is almost ZERO chance of getting anyone even slightly better to replace her if she was. Yes, the candidate pickings are THAT bad.

I wish Tom McClintock would run against her.

Not to mention only two states (Wisconsin and Illinois) don't issue CCWs. Although Wisconsin did issue one recently to a former LEO, I think.

Shell retire soon, and then he'll run for the open seat.

As you know, Senator David Vitter (R-LA) filed an amendment, S.Amdt. 4757, to the "Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007" (H.R. 980). His amendment would require states with concealed carry laws to honor the concealed carry permits from other states.

Having the right to carry a concealed weapon is a subject that has been extensively debated in our country. While some states, including California, have passed laws allowing people to apply for concealed carry permits, others choose not to allow such permits. Additionally, there continues to be discussions about whether there should be a national standard given these differences.

H.R. 980 passed the House of Representatives and is awaiting consideration by the Senate. Please know that I will keep your support for Senator Vitter's concealed carry law amendment in mind should the Senate take further action on H.R. 980.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write to me. I hope you will continue to keep in touch on matters of importance to you. Best regards.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

That's nothin! I sent an e-mail once opposing one of the gun laws they were pondering. I got a reply thanking me for my interest in her support of some cancer research/bill.
