I carry the 6" X2 Voyager... Great knife. I was told to just call it a Utility knife and leave it at that... As far as I know there is no law on the length correct?

On a folder blade length matters if you are on a K-12 school campus.
Cannot be over 2 1/2 inches. See PC 626.10

Remember the days when you could carry a knife on a plane? I had a Bokermatic that I took with me everywhere. Through LAX, Seatac, Reno, Sac intl. The only airport that did not allow me to bring it was the Palm springs airport???

I remember carrying my knife almost every time I flew. Sadly, I used to joke about it when people asked.

I'm not sure how many people know or remember this, but a long time ago the airlines used to let LEOs carry on the plane. Although they'd have to ask the flight attendant to store it in another compartment for them. They'd give it back to them when they left the plane. That's the good old days.

I only stopped carrying a Victorinox or Leatherman when metal detectors entered the travel picture - before then one had been my constant companion since at least age 10.
My own father, his father before him, and if memory serves his dad too - none of us would even think of walking out the door without a pocket comb and a knife as basic articles of clothing.
It never arose as an issue at school, at any level.
I miss traveling with my sharp little friends!

My dad was a flight engineer for TWA right after WWII. My mom was a stewardess. My dad would get on the plane wearing a 6-gun. No one said a thing.

You have to break it down to two sections... per se violations and intent violations:
Per Se violation would be possession of Nunchuku (sp?.. I hate that one), metal knuckles, shuriken, shobi-zu, slungshot..... straight up felonies...

Intent violations: possession of a screw driver "cause I'm gonna stick dude if he messes with me" possession of a baseball bat... "cause I'm gonna $#$^ that guy up for what he did to me" Possession with intent to commit a felony... makes possession a felony....

Gee Sir.. why do you have that flashlight... cause it is dark... no felony

That's nothing; I was once taken down at gunpoint by about 4 PD units and a helicopter because some idiot shopkeeper apparently can't tell the difference between a 2c Mag light and a gun.

Too bad they didn't have SureFire back then. Well they did, but they were real new.
