Default Application previously denied, am I doomed?

I live in Orange County and I applied for a CCW about a year and half ago and got denied. (For your own protection, do not post your good cause) I did not know about resoucres like this site at the time and after reading these forums I realize I didn't support my application as well as I could have.

So, my application was denied. Will this significantly hurt my chances if I apply again sometime in the future?

I am now much more knowledgable on the application process and aware on how I need to present my case so I'm hoping it's still a possibilty.

Weve had applicants denied and appeal with re-formatted GC and been subsequently approved....

Welcome, Cheet!

First, don't post your cause publicly. We have this rule for your protection, and ours - we've found that when people post their cause, inevitably other people start cutting and pasting it, and using it in their own applications. Soon issuing agencies start seeing the same cause time and again, and deny them all. You were pretty generic, but still, it's just something we don't talk about here. If a moderator comes along and edits your post, don't take it personally.

As for getting approved at this point - no, you're not doomed. I had exactly the same situation. I was turned down, a couple of years later I found this site, got some help writing out my cause statement, re-applied and was approved. You DO have to list the denial on your application, but if it was turned down for lack of cause, that won't hurt you.

So - write up your cause. It should be simple, straightforward and true. It should be less than 3 paragraphs and more than 2 sentences. Send it to CCWInstructor by email (greg@firearmstraining.com) with "Good Cause review" in the subject line, and he'll take a look at it.

In the meantime, look around, read the FAQ's. In OC you have a pretty good chance.

Do not submit at this time. Wait until we get a permanent sheriff.

Glancing over the forum it seems like people have been recently getting approved though

GunSlut has a better read on what's happening week to week than I do - I didn't know that was the current situation but I trust GS's take.

The appointment is coming up very soon - either way it won't be much of a wait.

I'm poised for my OC application...I should hold off then? I'm afraid if the BOS go away from Sheriff Anderson, the tap may get turned off!

His is a different situation. You haven't been previously denied.

If a new sheriff get appointed, they have the right to recall any all CCW's issued. It has been done before in this state.

Mark is right. If you have been denied already once, why risk it again at a uncertain times?
