Utah/Florida Non-Resident CCW

Has anyone here earned their Non-Resident Utah/Florida CCW? I recently paid $240.00 for a class at a gun show in San Francisco, CA at the Cow Palace. The instructor was W. Clark Aposhian, who was really informative. I thought it was a great class. I just want to get a feel on who else has earned this and if they would use it during travel if they did in the other neighboring 28 states. Thanks.

I just have the Utah nonresident permit. I like to carry when I travel as much as possible. I like that I'm not limited to carrying specific handguns. All three of those sentences started with "I". How ego-centric.

I have my Utah and trained for it with my California training a couple of years ago,,, it was a $35 upgrade. It is a nice permit to hold and very reasonable price wise.

Yeah, that included all of the fees, fingerprinting, picture, class instruction, notorization, ect. I would like more info on how to get the Florida one, but I hear it costs $110.00 to renew every five years. The Utah one only costs $10.00 every five years to renew.

Sounds like someone OVERcharged you. It's good to have both, since each tries to obtain reciprocity with different states.

The price for the class and every thing that goes with it to ensure the paper work is done properly is worth the extra cost compared to do it yourself. I had the same instructor but at a different area and have no problems on the price. It saved me driving 4 hrs to and from the only other class and I did not have to track down all the finger printers, a notary and get photos taken. Had the paper work check and corrected then processed. You pay for conveyances.

+1 for that. I took the same class in Ukiah on 4/27. The fact that he came up to Mendocino county made the cost worth it to me.

I must of seen you there. That is the class I took. I was the new guy and while I was there I got sponsored and am in the process of joining.

Thanks for joining. The more the merrier. I'm sure that I saw you too. A lot of folks at that class. Does the name 'zinfull' mean that you grow it, or drink it, or do both?

As a mildly paranoid civilian, I felt that once i got the CA CCW, obtaining UT and FL were good ideas. I based this on the rare chance that the Supreme Court will place restrictions on gun ownership unless there is some tie-in to a "well-regulated militia." I am not LEO, and have never been in the service. I felt that by getting the multiple CCWs it would place me one level above standard civilian status should SCOTUS rule as such..... I know, I'm a little paranoid, but I considered it gun ownership insurance. Since I live in Orange Co. and my CCW was not too difficult to obtain, I made sure I got the CA CCW first .... just to allay any local fears about me being too gung-ho with the CCW process.... reference above paranoid statements :-).

I thought the $100 FL was not too expensive as ownership insurance. I expect UT to increase in cost since they are having budgetary funding issues for the issuing agency due to the large number of non-res applications(local news reports on UT-TV).

I do travel and have CCW'd in AZ with CA CCW. I expect to carry in the future during other travels, and I will keep them all with me should the need to display arise.. I just have to make sure I have all of the state and federal laws covered in each state.

I started drinking wine in 1980's and mainly liked whites. In 84 I had a nice Alexander Valley Zin and have not gone back to whites. Most of my collection is Zin and a few other reds. Just a drinker.

Got my AZ CCW and 2 months ago and the process was very simple. Everyone was saying I should have gotten my Utah CCW, but since I travel there mostly I didn't need a Utah CCW, it was worth it and has a lot of states covered but not as much as UTAH/FL. Don't forget though if your going for CA CCW get the training thru one of the trainers from this site because they support us, I'll be signing up in the winter hopefully.

Mailed my Florida non-resident CCW permit application with all the fixins' today. The postal worker informed me that they (DOACS) should receive my application by this Friday. We'l see if it takes the full 8-weeks as stated on the paperwork.
