They still have the gun show at the Cow Palace? I would have thought by now it would be illegal, just out of sheer will by the anti-gun left who have repeatedly tried to get that bill passed. LOL.

Good luck with your permit.

Thanks! As a matter of fact, there is another gun show on September 27-28 in SF at the Cow Palace. I will be there to buy some goodies!

I just want to get a feel on who else has earned this and if they would use it during travel if they did in the other neighboring 28 states. Thanks.
Just FYI... someone I know... does the Utah class in the Kern Area.. for 150.00 which includes fingerprinting/notary/pictures/envelope to mail everything in... sandwiches and someones famous cookies all in one evening...the clients are very happy and would rather come in and just get er done all in one evening... the reason not to do the florida permit according to that instructor is that it would take longer to do the class - Utah now requires you to do the whole Utah class first before you do the Florida class and the Florida permit doesn't do much for western states folks.. other than the sheer joy of having one of course... which is a valid point......

So... while it seems like a lot of money... the clients seem to like gettin' er all done in one place and getting out at the end of the evening and all they have to do is attach a check and postage...

According to the instructor though ... getting all of the people there, the notaries the fingerprint people etc... and then not being able to do the notary/fingerprint thing as part of the 4 hour min. class is quite a pain in the neck or somewhere....(the notary stuff has to be extra.. not part of the 4 hour class. so class has to start early and get all of the tasks done early on or breaks)
This instructor has done about 200 clients since Feb....about 10% have had to have the fingerprints redone....

That's the word on the range anyway....

Bill Murphy at Firing Arms Training Associates does all that for $100 once a month and just tacs an hour on to his CCW course. He brings in his daughter to notarize all of it for another $10. The cool part is he said it is his donation to the range and sort of a fund raiser that he does for them.

I was a bit upset that I was told we should all get it because there is a national CCW due to go in effect and having these permits would grandfather us in. Once I got home and read all about it I realize how slim to no chance that is of ever happening.

I paid for it but now am not sure I want to send it in because I dont see the point of having it. I have been to Florida x2 in my entire life and honestly I dont think I would want to bother with carrying in another state of leaving my gun unattended on a plane.

I have my Utah and several other non-resident permits and highly value the option to carry while traveling. If you never go out of state that is fine, but your vulnerability while traveling in unfamiliar areas can be very high and there is no reason to quit defending yourself and your families life when you cross a state border.

The Utah is a less expensive permit to purchase. I am legal in about 33-35 states even though I rarely travel outside of the western states. YMMV

Wow, $240?

I took the Utah class at Jones Fort in Redding. I forget how much is was, but it was a heck of a lot cheaper than that and they did everything for us there, fingerprints, pictures, notary on site, etc.

Let's see...

Took a CCW class for FL/UT from A Guy:
(Self Defense Firearms Training - Be Safe, Be Confident, Get Trained!)
in June, by the end of August I had both.

Cost was:
$70. for the class (including notarizations),
$30. for the fingerprints (local PD),
$5. for the passport-type photos (FedEx/Kinkos),
$65.25 for the Utah application,
$117. for the Florida application,

Grand total from start to finish for both FL & UT CCW's:
less than $300 (including postage and 9 mm WWB for qualification).

That covers 60% of the United States, at less than $10/state.

Greg Block teaches and supervises this early evening class once or twice a month in Orange (near Disneyland), with the additional benefit that a CalCCW group often gathers and goes to supper afterward (good chow, good times).

Call for the next class, as they are not necessarily on the web schedule.

You can download the forms and print them out from Utah's web site. Talk to a guy, he'll hook you up with the training; Then you just need to send in the form and fingerprints with a picture.

I registered so I could respond. Will post in the new guy section tonight.

Over $200 is too much.
I am holding a class this Sunday 9/21. $100, includes everything.
