Default Had a conversation

Had a good conversation about CCWs with my FNRA committee the other night. Everybody there who hasn't applied for a CCW was horrified that you can't get one on the simple basis of wanting to protect yourself and it's your right to arm yourself. Further horrified that if you do bank runs for the business you work for that it is not a valid reason.

I remember back when I first learned those things and how wrong I thought it was. Why is it so wrong to say you want the ability to protect yourself as a reason to have a CCW? I'm sure potential muggers or rapists do not check your history before chosing you for a target therefore victims are chosen at random. I guess "freedom from fear" doesn't exist in the eyes of California legislatures.

We could try to get a proposition on the ballot to change the law.

Sorry to threadjack, but which FNRA committee? I heard Auburn barely wanted to do their dinner this year and there are going to be 8 less dinners in CA this year than last year.

I'm on Amador's FNRA committee for the first time, seems like we'll have some really nice stuff this year versus last year!

Encourage them to apply. And vote.

+1, if they are Nevada County residents they probably have a pretty good shot at getting issued.

2 members already have ccw's, one of them being a correctional officer. Unfortunately a couple of them know the new sheriff and his history and he is actually anti ccw, so the tide may be changing here.

I'm on the FNRA committee in Grass Valley. Recently our NRA rep left the NRA and burned a LOT of people on his way out, so I can understand why the Auburn FNRA feels luke warm about the whole deal. He took everybody's records with him and refuses to give anything back. We had to pen a new committee charter because the NRA did not recognize us due to the guy.

Charlie was our rep too, now we have Steve?
What day is your event? I might try to make it up.
(I hope it's ok to post this here, mods feel free to delete since it's not strictly CCW related).

That's too bad to hear. I was Chairman of local FNRA banquet in Wisc the second year they started. We finally made money that year and started climbing up .... I then left the state to get married.. good for me, but too bad they lost an MC. I hear the banquet has carried on nicely.
My advice to all in your current situation.... the FNRA is bigger than the idiot who walked out on you. Stay the course and all most donors and mebers will come back. DO NOT smack on the FNRA corporate as they are some of the rare friends we have. Yes all corporations and associations have problems, but keep the main thing the main thing.
