I don't believe you can take it online.
I took mine with a Utah certified instructor that works at a nearby range.
If you go here: Utah Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Criminal Identification you can get started.
If you go here: http://bci.utah.gov/CFP/insoutstate.pdf you can see a list of out of state instructors.
The class is 4hrs and does not require range time. My instructor did however require range time.

Good luck

Correct. You need a certified CCW instructor to sign and stamp off on your application.

Default UT time delay

FYI, I just spoke with my Brother-in-law who lives in Utah and has had his for a while .... there was a local news report about budget concerns. One thing that came up was that the State of Utah cashes the checks for CCW, but the $s do not go to the issuing department for operating funds .... it goes into the back hole of gov't coffers. The issuing department has had such a large influx of non-resident CCW requests that they have gone over their operations budget. Of course the state wants to keep all $s in their coffers, so Non-Resident CCWs are taking longer than before. They are placing priority on UT residents .... membership has it's privilages ... I sent mine in early Feb - check cashed 2-25, so I expect another 30 days plus ....

My non-resident Utah CFP timeline.
Application was sent 3/10/08 via priority mail.
Credit Card was charged on 3/22/08.
Permit arrived 5/20/08.

Looks like if you figure 60 days from time of payment / processing you'll be pretty close.

Sent mine in May 5 and I just called them yesterday. I just received my paperwork yesterday (May 20). The nice lady informed me I should receive mine 60 days from yesterday. So I guess I have 59 more days to wait.

On a side note, when you guys counted down "days", did you also count weekends, or just business days? Thanks.
