I just want to echo Akzl and Dan M. that I think you might have gotten some bad info regarding CA and issue of CCW. While it has gotten a lot easier to obtain a CCW in the past ten years in some counties, it all boils down to the issuing county and not the states requirements. Every county has its own issuing policies and they are set up by the SD presiding over that county. Some counties that issues now didn’t ten years ago and vice versa. Regardless of you political status or bank account, you need to meet the requirements of the issuing county.

Unless you are actually living in California state laws say you will not be able to get a CCW permit. Legally you have to have residence in California for more that 6 months out of the year every year to be considered for a permit. I know this since I work for county gov't and someone already tried that and was turned down for just that reason since they reside in another state for over 6 months during the year. Ask the sheriff in the county you plan to apply in. They will probably tell you the same thing. I found that out working for local gov't.

Otherwise the only way you can legally carry is to be on duty conducting official business for the military. Goto Bureau of Firearms - California Dept. of Justice - Office of the Attorney General for more information. State law does in fact say you must reside in this state to get a CCW permit at the website I just indicated.

Will Rogers said, "There's three kinds of people. There's them that can learn from others, there's them that can learn from books, and there's them that has to whiz on the electric fence for themselves."

I prefer to be one of the first two kind and to learn from others' mistakes.
