Default Who am I?

I am a teacher, I am a student. I am an executive, I am a custodian. I am a truck driver, I am a store clerk. I am an administrative assistant (gotta be politically correct here ) I am a salesman. I am old, I am young. I am retired, I am employed. I am a preacher, I am an atheist. I was born here, I came here in search of a better life. I am a veteran, I am a pacifist. I am male, I am female. Who am I? I am a CCW holder.

We all come from a varied walks of life but we are not vigilantes. We are not militia man. We do not walk down the street dressed in cammo clothing trying to catch a crime in progress and get our 15 minutes of fame. We do not want be heroes. You have probably met me (CCW holder) and never even knew it. We do not want to be visible, we do not want to be different. We respect other's distrust or dislike of firearms but we also ask for them to respect our view of them as tools.
We want to quietly go about our lifes with the knowledge that if need be, we can protect ourselves and our loved ones. We understand that the responsibilty for that lies within us as while we admire and respect the LEO's, we understand that they can't be everywhere at the same time. Considering that danger is sometimes rather immediate, we might need to protect our loved ones and ourselves. Unfortunately it takes time to dial the number, it takes time for the dispatcher to dispatch help and it takes time for that help to arrive..... Being optimistic and giving 30 seconds to answer, 1 minute to pass the address and request for assistance we are already at 1minute and 30 seconds..... and now how far is the nearest unit from you? What is the average response time? I am by no means critiquing or putting down LEO's, I'm just being a realist.

So again... who am I? I am average Joe. I am your neighbour, I am your doctor, I am your lawyer, I am your mechanic, I am your..... ?

Thanks
CCW Holder

Very good. Reminds me of another great piece that I read years ago.

You don't know me, and I have a gun!
