Default Proving Business?

Hey guys is it necessary that I bring a copy of my business license for my CCW interview? I only typically use fictitious business name for my business name as well as a business checking account under my business name. Would this suffice or would I also need a business license? To support my good cause I planned on bringing a copy of my fictitious business statement and 3 months business bank statements is this all you guys would recommend?

From Webster's online dictionary:
Quote:

fic·ti·tious
Pronunciation:
\fik-ˈti-shəs\
Function:
adjective
Etymology:
Latin ficticius artificial, feigned, from fictus
Date:
circa 1633

1: of, relating to, or characteristic of fiction : imaginary
2 a: conventionally or hypothetically assumed or accepted <a fictitious concept> b of a name : false assumed
3: not genuinely felt

— fic·ti·tious·ly adverb
— fic·ti·tious·ness noun
I believe the colloquial synonym is "Bull****"

I'm in OC, and I use a fictitious business name too.

(Dan - that's when you don't have a corporation, but the name of your business isn't YOUR name. Often referred to as a DBA or "Doing Business As" - like John Smith DBA John's Tree Trimming Service. So he can have a bank account in his DBA name.)

Anyway, I needed my business license, 3 months of bank statements, and a letter from my bank manager that I made regular cash deposits. I also took in deposit slips - they weren't required but they didn't hurt.

you will need your resale permit, business license, bank statements, Board of Equalization tax papers, or anything else to prove your business.

Maybe I should have been a little precise. A Fictitious business name is not a FAKE name its just a DBA as another name or entity. You can register names at the OC Clerk Recorder. Thanks AMS mike I have all that in order. Thanks

This is what I am referring to: Orange County Clerk-Recorder - Tom Daly

yes you are correct, if you have a Sole Proprietorship business (or partnership), then you have a Fictitious business name which is your DBA (or can be different). They are both tied together.

you can also have a corperation or LLC and under that operate 2 or 200 more businesses with different names. DBA's/Fictitious business names. All under the parent company.

just make sure you have ALL business related papers and if the interviewer needs more, they will tell you at the time of your interview.

you know the rest of the stuff you need to take with you at time of the interview, right?

Hmm. I hadn't thought of resale permit and BOE filings - I don't collect sales tax so I don't have them for my business. But yes, if they apply, take them.

In general, it's better to have a document and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

In theory, if you have and run a business. Should not be difficult to prove it. Only time its difficult is when you have a business that is only set up and not used.

If you have a business in The Fair City of Huntington Beach, you are required to have a business license whether or not you have a storefront open to the public. If you don't have one - you need to get one, and bring it along.
