Default San Diego County Instructor Recommendations.

Do any of you have a referral or recommendation for a CCW Safety Class/ Instructor in the San Diego County area?

Since you are lucky enough to be somewhat close to Orange County, best bet is to take CCWI's classes.

Most/each county uses an approved list of instructors for their area. I would venture a guess that SDO has their own.

Have you tried to contact the issuing agency where you intend to apply and see if they can direct you to their list?

I would definitely be open to that. It would be a nice way to meet some of you guys in person.

Do you know if CCWI's classes would be valid in San Diego County? If I can get some specifics, I can do some of the leg work and ask SDCSD.

SDCSD has an approved list of instructors. Unfortunately, it has not been updated in quite a while and several of the listed instructors are no longer valid or available at the locations stated. And practically speaking, I did not appreciate the twinge of attitude/arrogance at my last safety course.

For my ccw renewal, I was hoping to get an referral based upon the member's expertise and experience in my area. In my book, personal referrals go a long way.

Like I said OC is not too far for me, and if valid for the SDCSD I would be open to it.

Thanks for all your input.

Default CCW Weapons Saftey Training FAcilities & Instructors

If anyone is interested or if the Admin would like to post it, I have available the San Diego County Sheriff's CCW Safety Training Facilities and Instructors list on a pdf file.

There are 2 sites located out of the county to the North of San Diego. One in Corona and one in Mission Viejo.

One caveat, as stated before, the list states that it is current as of November 1, 2006. Called some of the #'s and they are still good.

Just PM me if anyone is interested in the list or if you think it would be good to post in the FAQ for SDC.

I took the San Diego Sheriff approved course with William Desy, Firearms Instructor, Instructor@CCWUSA.com, [url=http://www.CCWUSA.com[/url]. He also has courses for Florida and Utah permits.

I'd contact William and sign up for the next class that is convenient.
