Talking I won a new holster the other day

I am involved in a semiweekly tactical training. it is mostly LEO and former/current military. I am about the only full fledged civilian, but the instructor is fairly impressed with my marksmanship and invited me. anyway last week we did weak hand drills, and at the end of the course, we had a little weak hand competition. dump 3 mags on target. I had been nervous and was embraced about my groups as I had NEVER shot weak hand before.. anyway by the end of the night I had calmed down I was not really trying to win, just make a less embarrassing group.. long story short, my group was so much better than any of the others, we did not even score it

Out comes a safariland adjustable black leather "in the waistband" for my new kimber carry II and a 2 mag belt holder. I tried it on for size and was super impressed, it draws very nicely and concealed a full sized 1911 very well, not only that it is very comfortable.

So everyone starts razzing me because they know I just picked up the kimber. stuff like "ha ha, new kimber, new holster, too bad it's not on your CCW" well they could tell by the look in my eyes in short order that i was the ONLY one there without a CCW, I felt like a leper.

Anyways, the instructor starts getting on me about why I have not applied. I told him that from what I have gotten here, at CalCCW I do not have good cause.. then he got on me again about how me having a permanent restraining order against my neighbor was "the gold standard" of cause. everyone in the room agreed but I said I would check with you guys.. a couple of the LEs were going to check into it for me

I wouldn't know for sure, but that sounds like a pretty good shot at one for you.

I've never heard that one before. . . .

That is a specific situation which I am not familiar with. I would say that if you have a support system, like those LEOs you shoot with, then you should heed their advise and suggestions. Most people do not have the availabilty of such.
Move in that direction.

I was thinking of the exemption "Fear of Person Subject to Restraining Order".

unfortunately, a year ago I refied my home to avoid the pending end of a 5-1arm, I got a 30 year fixed 5 3/8% thank you very much! but it came with a 5 year pre pay penalty, so add $38k penalty $35k in selling costs, house has lost $40-50k in the last year, and i just do not have enough to get out of it even if I were to start renting, or even move my family in with my parents, I am pretty much stuck here

I just called somebody at home to wish them Merry Christmas and ask them this question.

The only CCW's that have been issued with a restraining order in place have been "DV" restaining orders. I already knew that but wanted to be sure that no others were issued that were no DV issue. I was right.

This is Orange County specific.

Hahahahahha

I think he meant "Move in the direction that the LEO's advise"

Although, moving to another state may also better your chances with a CCW

Take a careful look at your mortgage. Most have 2 different pre-pay penalties - one for a sale, which normally lasts a year or so, and a longer one for re-fi, 3 or 5 years.

Of course, if you have to be stuck somewhere, Anaheim isn't that bad A friend of mine is going to University of Michigan, where the high today will be 34 degrees - but my 4 year old is running around in the backyard in her underwear, watering the roses (and everything else) with the hose.

California real estate will come back - it always does.

Wow! Even on Christmas day, the members get expert answers. Now that's going above and beyond the call.

Yeah, Sense got that right. I meant to go with the advise as given to you by those LEOs who are members of your shooting group.
By the way. What is a "DV" restraining order?

Domestic Violence, and the restraining order are a lot easier to get in DV cases, if you apply they hand them out like skittles. Getting one against a neighbor , in the same condo building is almost unheard of, but this guy is a druggie and a definite 5150. i caught him on time stamped video with his SLR in my bushes outside my window at 10:00pm, and (no audio) yelling, screaming and threatening myself and my 2 year old son for about 7 minutes. So basically if I lie and say that he is my ex gay lover, I am a shoe in.... hmmm it's a thought... but even for a CCW, no i am not going to lie

another thing, 2 of the guys wit CCWs there swear that they used "I am carrying guns a lot so I am a bigger target" for cause, that said this range is fairly clicky, and has a lot of LEO traffic, as they are a registered CA AW dealer.. if you know who I am talking about, please don't shout it out in a post. anyways, i know these guys are very good customers, so that may be how they are getting through.. myself, not so good of a customer, I build guns and get them 2nd hand

Because he is in the same complex, you can carry in your residence. That is the answer they will give you.

In a condo complex, does that mean just inside your unit, or on the grounds of the complex in which you are a part owner?
