Default info from AZ re:CCW&alchohol&indian reservations

In my travels I stopped by a friend's store in Prescott, AZ. He is the local CCW instructor and is extremely helpful. I asked regarding difference in rules from AZ/CA ... he handed me a printed sheet regarding AZ-CCW and it described things quite succinctly, if alchohol is "served" to anyone/anywhere in the establishment, CCW is NOT allowed.... that leave out Chilis, Applebees, etc .... plus ----
As a refresher from class,
Indian Reservation Land does not allow for transport of firearms, even if unloaded and locked in the vehicle..... unless prior approval from Tribe has been acquired. The irony is that he said the local(Prescott-AZ) Lowes and Home Cheapo are both on reservation land and vehicles in the parking lot would be in violation ..... just something to think about the next time you are in AZ .... or on an Indian reservation.
Transporting a firearm through a reservation on a State Highway is legal as long as it pertains to the "A-B" rule.... passing through.

Stay on the Hwy. easement area and you are good. Every tribe has the option to do it their own way, and I would imigane most decline to accept CCW and firearms on their reservations.

Like people everywhere the Tribals will return respect when treated with respect. All you have to keep in mind is that you are a visitor to their Nation.

Good advice, and I try to treat everyone as though they are carrying ... makes for a polite society.

Last time I treated someone like they were carrying was at a huge ammo sale, the guy was very outwardly rude and kept giving me the mad dog eye. Was wearing a springfield hat and was wearing a fanny pack.

He was angry with me because I asked the clerk he was hitting on where the prices were listed for the giant can of 7.62x39 I was interested in...

Oh yeah, and that can was $120

I lived in Arizona for 7 years before moving to CA and their laws don't make any sense:

You can't carry anywhere that *serves* alcohol ... that means you can't even carry into a Denny's, Applebee's, Chipotle, or what have you. However, AZ places no restrictions on consumption of alcohol while carrying. So, you can get p*ss drunk at home then strap on your gun and go into public and it's perfectly legal, but it's illegal to carry in any establishment that serves alcohol, even if you're not drinking.

Like I said, it makes no sense. Under my OC, CA permit I can carry into a restaurant that serves alchohol. I just can't drink. To me that makes a lot more sense.

On the Indian thing, each tribe has it's own policy. Some recognize CCW, most don't. This is an issue in the Phoenix metro area where many strip malls on the edge of town are actually on Indian reservations. Most reservations have a policy that if you get caught carrying there, they confiscate your gun and there is no due process to get it back. Once it's gone, it's gone.
