Default CCW in what states?

I had my CA CCW for 7 years and now looking at obtaining CCW from other states. I'm just wondering what other states do you have CCW permits. I was thinking of going to NV to apply and obtain a non-resident CCW but a Utah CCW appear to cover NV. I primarily travel the northwestern states. Thanks.

I've got a Nevada CCW. I live on the border and drive across state lines every week. I figure that since I spend alot of time there, it's easier to get one from that state, and easier legally if there's ever an incident.

From studying USGunlaws and the now defunct packing.org. I have concluded that having CA, UT, and FL., will pretty much let you carry anywhere you are able to.

I really need to get on the ball for my UT and FL!

Only if you really want to. Heh.

The classes are available here in SoCal.

I'll have to look for an instructor in northern CA. I live in Redding and I hope there are classes closer to where I live.

The Utah BCI should have a list of instructors. I would also check the local range and gun shop info boards as instructors tend to do some advertising as well. Getting the Utah CCW process isn't that difficult. After taking the 4 hour class, it is essentially just having to gather the required materials and send it in with the check...

I just have a lot on my plate, so it takes a little time to be able to run an errand just to go do one or two of the steps. Otherwise, I'd have been able to get it done much quicker. Once mailed, it's probably going to take 4-6 months to process due to the backlog of applicants.

After this one, I'm going to look into getting an Oregon non-res as well. Nevada and Oregon are my two most frequent out of state destinations anyway... and I have family in Oregon...

I just reside in the wrong county for a California CCW right now.

ETA: CCWI posted the link I was thinking of... use it!

Thanks for the info. It appears Marshall Jones is on that list. He is a CCW instructor in our area and I have taken his initial and renewal classes for my CA CCW.

There is no list for Florida. All you need is to provide proof of instruction. From any NRA instructor or CCW instruction.

You do not need a link for Florida instruction as they will accept almost any training. An NRA class or a hunters safety training class will probably do, or if you are a vet a DD214, I believe it works as well. You can download their application package off the net @

Utah and Florida...and if you travel to a state that doesn't recognize non res CCW's, get one for that state as well.
