Default NV Carry Law

OK, making a Vegas run this weekend and I don't have a NV permit. Refresh my memory. I can carry to the state line (obviously) but then need to have it off my person, hidden in the car? This is because NV considers the car an extension of one's home? When it's in my car and I'm occupying the vehicle, it can be loaded?

Not yet. But it's my understanding that it's ok to have the gun in your car, permit or not.

I have a NV permit. You may have a loaded concealed firearm in you vehicle anywhere without a CCW. You may also have one in your hotel room. NV law does not require you to inform the officer, UT law does.

"Nevada has an open carry law that permits a person to carry a handgun in plain view, however, there are exceptions. For instance, Clark County requires you to have a registration to open carry, and you must carry your registration with you when you are carrying a gun. Some cities such as North Las Vegas and Boulder City have "deadly weapon" laws, and you could be cited or arrested if you pass through their jurisdictions with a firearm in your vehicle."

"Without a CCW permit, a firearm may be concealed in your home or vehicle as long as it is not on your person, concealed by your person, or in a personal item (such as a purse, backpack, briefcase) carried by you."

Hoser, ole buddy, I cut and pasted from two Nevada websites. Hope this helps. I've never had to think about being in this situation since Nevada and California are my only two CCWs that require that my psitols to be registered and listed on the CCW. I overlapped them. Come back a millionaire!!!!

They define Open Carry as "in plain site, but not on your person"

Where did you get this statement? The only restriction that I know of in BC is the actual dam area, and NLV would be hard pressed to try to enforce that considering the amount of traffic that goes through it on the way to LV.

I remember 3 years agao in my Nevada CCW class, the instructor told us that you could actually be driving in and out of jurisdictions that were 180 degrees apart.

I believe that that quote is in regards to open carry. NV state law says that you can have a concealed gun in your car and your home. The state overrides the city.

That's what I thought, except for the Dam area. That is Fed area now.
