Ok so to be able to carry while fishing you need to:

1. Keep gun and ammo locked as per transportation gun laws untill at your destination.
2. Hip carry openly with magazine out of the weapon in a separate holster.

Seems worth it to me. I've been fishing up and down the Yuba, and yes I've had a run in with mountain lions. they never charged me, but it really stinks to sit there and hope that your hikingstick is more powerful then their hunger.

AAAhhhh the Tehachapi Curtain.... I think it is somewhere along the Kern County line... people move over the line to Kern County and then... almost magically, get ccw permits should they apply for one.

I heard once that there is an Orange curtain dividing Los Angeles and Orange Counties. It is said the people who live behind the Orange Curtain can also obtain a ccw license to protect their families.

A wonderful and mysterious land by all accounts.

Really? We have a higher issue with pot farmers up in the canyons of Butte and Lassen counties where we fly fish. I have yet to see a mountain lion or a bear while fishing. Lots of deer but they are always gone by deer season anyways.

Yeah really.

Never seen a bear though. I've heard they live around here somewhere, but I've never seen even as much as a bear print.

I fish bridgeport area and outhfork area. On occasion I've fished down where highway 20 crosses over on the way to Yuba City. That's where I saw a mountain lion. No issues with pot farmers to speak of, they pretty much stick to North San Juan in this area.

We have all of the aforementioned critters here in Plumas county.

I have personally seen two "hikers" coming out of the forest with shovels in their packs carrying bulging nylon bags in each hand. I wonder what was in those bags? In what is a normally friendly environment all they wanted to do was to be on their way. They had no desire for conversation and were visibly uncomfortable.

Two weeks ago, a friend had a mountain lion go right by his house on the way to the creek behind his property.

A week ago sunday night my neighbor called me to ask my assistance. A bear was pushing on her kitchen door trying to get in the house. She was home alone and was quite upset by the whole thing.

Living in the mountains is stimulating.

Default concealed does not imply loaded

Anyone know if this statement is true? I find it hard to believe.
Penal Code allows for concealed carry to/from the campsite but not loaded. You have to check if the campground authority allows for loaded weapons. Please note that concealed does not imply loaded in the Penal Code. One must make sure what the code is dicussing.

Red face

not to to sound "wrong" but i do not care to much what any law says about carring while hunting / fishing / etc.

with that said i do not want to have a bad encounter with any leo, but when i am doing any of the above, i am some ways away from any other people,
i tend to go up into the back country, weather it be two or four footed i do wish to sleep in my bed that night. so

in the truck = unloaded and locked up.

out of the truck in the woods = ready for use.

when under my ccw rules, i do tend to carry a offen as practale. but not at all times.

sure the laws read something about carring while going to and from hunting / fishing. nufe said.
any leo will read into any law what he / she wants it to say.

so if one must carry a gun under there jacket and "say" thay are going fishing, just remember:
"buyer be ware".
"your milage will vary"
how much justace, can you afford"
"etc"

.
