Greg and Others,

Does anyone have more info on bullet setback? I un-chamber my CCW weapons when I come home at night, prior to putting them in the safe. I'm just more comfortable storing them at home with no round in the chamber. How much of a real concern is bullet setback? How many times can I re-chamber the same round before I have to worry about it?

I figure that I carry about 3 days per week right now, usually with the same weapon, so potentially the same round gets chambered/unchambered 3 times per week (if I wasn't rotating the rounds in the mag, which I do currently). Anyway, that's a "worst-case scenario".

I think I need to get my digital calipers from my buddy's house where I keep my reloading equipment, and check OAL over the course of a month or two to see if this is a genuine concern with my guns, and my carry ammo. I'll post my results.

You should be able to visually inspect the rechambered rounds to see if the crimp location is comparable to fresh rounds.

Of course checking with a caliper is always a good way to verify that the bullet hasn't seated too deeply into the cartridge.
