Default Is Starbucks next? Anyone hear about this?

Anyone hear about this? I found this posted on Kahr Talk. Apparently, there is an anti gun group putting pressure on Starbucks to ban guns on their property. I might sign this petition and write a separate email. PEET's isn't in my neighborhood but if I had to give up Starbucks (gulp) that would hurt

I don't do Starbuks often, but if they apenly stand by 2a rights, in the face of these p&$$y little brady idiots I will start going there. we should all google starbuks and e-mail them to let them know their support of the 2a will be rewarded.

I signed the petition. Anybody that stands up for our 2A rights is alright in my book and should be rewarded with my business. Those that oppose my 2A rights will not receive my business.

All you Peet's customers need to go over to Starbucks. Starbucks is telling the Brady bunch to pound sand. I don't even drink coffee, but THAT'S a company I can stand behind and patronize.

I hear they have great cocoa. Guess I will find out now.

Starbucks ban firearms no way. I think my entire dept goes daily. That would be a serious dent in sales.

Try Starbucks Vanilla Frappuccino with some caramel on it. When we are out I always end up getting one for my roommate and her daughter. She loves them.

Its no doubt that the pressure to ban guns at these coffee houses is being spurred on by the Open Carry folks showing up in numbers to make a visible demonstration of their 2A rights.

I know this is NOT an open carry forum but is it fair to ask if anyone else is concerned that Open Carry demonstrations will have the unintended consequence of helping the Gun Control lobby to achieve laws that effect CCW laws? I am very worried that this is already happening.

Default Starbucks Support

I am not a big fan of the open carry movement either because I am afraid it could work against the right to carry BUT the fact that Starbucks officially made a decision to honor open carry laws is huge! They are coming under heavy fire for this and I think they need to be supported. I know I will be contacting them to let them know I appreciate their decision to not be bullied by the Brady Camp.

I just want to point out that these places, in their press releases, specified no open carry. They never addressed CCW's.

As much as I may agree or disagree with a policy (and they really have to be taken on a case by case basis), it IS the right of the owner of the establishment to allow or not allow firearms. It is also my right to decide whether or not to give that company my cash.

Personally, I think walking around with an unloaded gun holstered for the world to see isn't a terribly bright idea. This goes back to the days when I was in the Canadian Military and with UNFICYP, and we had to keep the only 20 round mag we had for our C7 inside our pocket, and not in the mag well. You are clearly at a tactical disadvantage.

As CCWI states (and I'm paraphrasing), an unloaded gun is nothing more than a paperweight, and I agree.

A unload gun is a paper weight and a police report of a crime is paper. The paper weight can become a usable weapon in a couple seconds. I will take the paper weight.

I do appreciate Starbucks on the stance on that if it is not illegal then they are OK with the situation.
