Default Man Holding Child Robs You at Gunpoint - CCW Useless?

NORWALK -- Sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect who robbed a liquor store patron while holding a boy in one hand and revealing a pistol with the other....The man, described as being in his early to mid-20s, allegedly demanded a wallet and alcohol the victim had just purchased.

Suspect Holding Child Commits Robbery - KTLA

----------------

How would you react? Most CCW'ers aren't trained for such scenarios. I'm stumped.

"revealing a pistol" does that me he lifted his shirt to show he was armed? Or did he brandish or draw it in some way? If the guy was holding a 4 yr old he's not a very capable foe. This guy better pick his victims carefully, my 55 yr old sister would of kicked his A$$.

Smile Just give it

if i'm in that situation i'll just give in to his demand.you can't do anything in that situation because of the kid which is going to be in the line of fire incase you decide to engage the guy.i think this example apply to one of the gun safety rules:know your target and what's behind it but in this case your target is behind the innocent child so you cannot engage the threat.

I've heard of "impulse buys" but an "impulse robbery"?

This pisses me off more than any thing I've read in a long time.

Yeah, of course you give him what he asks for. And hope he chokes to death on his own vomit someday.

I carry, not necesarily to stop people from robbing me.. but to keep them from hurting me...so I draw the gun when, ability/jeopardy/opportunity exist for me/my loved ones/innocents to receive crippling injury or death...If I have to shoot in this circumstance, the penaly for not shooting would be me being a bullet sponge... having substantive objections to my being a bullet sponge... I would have to be able to shoot magnificently, under pressure, with the "swirl of motion" such rodeos engender...'cause accidentily shooting a small child would also bring up substantive moral objections within the psyche... so perhaps this is more of a reminder to....PRACTICE with my firearm...under pressure, while moving...and prayer perhaps that I am never faced with such a trial...

PRACTICE with my firearm...under pressure, while moving. That's exactly right!

+1 Stuff is just stuff. I keep my important stuff (Military ID, Badge, License, and SS card) in a smaller seperate wallet. Credit cards can be cancelled VERY easily. A kid is involved? Give him what he wants. One day, Karma will get his ass....

Ayoob has always suggested carrying "mugger money".. a few $ bills wrapped around a matchbook that you can give to a mugger... a cheap wallet in the pocket with a few bucks would be another way of doing it...
