Default Alameda County

Im looking for Info on getting a CCW in Alameda County. I saw a few people on here with them(you may PM me). I have a Federal LEO Background(current sworn). with a crazy SOP about locking our gun when we transport.
Driving home thru OAKLAND late at nite has been fearful with 238 closed. One of my coworkers brokedown and had to unlock his weapon(his car was surrounded, PD arrived in 1.5 mins of calling 911). Thanks for any help...

Sworn Feds with SOP of locking up the weapon during transport?? That doesn't sound right! Unbelievable is more like it. Isn't there some sort of LEO safety act that authorizes you to carry when off duty?

Although Alameda Co. is no easy pickins, I have to believe that they would see your situation as untenable as you do. I would go for it, but it is probably wise on your part to get some help from members in your area. Also wouldn't hurt to have someone critique your GC before turning your application in.

Oh...and WELCOME to CalCCW.

Thanks Keith...Yes its hard to believe that our SOP is that way but it is....We are in the process of getting congress involved but thats a whole other story. Im sure there are more on here with the same situation as me and hopefully we can get this done. I even have to be vague as to the DEPT as to not violate SOP.

Sounds like OP might be a FFDO. Tretopflir - you might want to look at what your good cause is. Once you know what yours is, look up CCWInstructor and email it to him for review. Alameda County (like all Bay Area Counties) is a very tough nut to crack. It's not impossible, just very tough.

If I'm wrong about that... well then, I'm wrong!

Welcome. You will need to do your homework to get a permit up there.

With no warning shots allowed. you have a better chance than most. Your SOP dimed you off.

You'd be good to listen to CCWI. If he knows which agency from what you've posted about your SOP, he most likely knows how much of a chance you stand with Alameda County.

Seriously.
