Default Nevada CCW...

I just got back from Nevada renewing my Nevada CCW. During class, my friend and I were told by the instructor of some new changes to the Nevada CCW effective in October. I thought I'd share the info here since, even though this is a CA CCW forum, many of us have interest in CCW's in other states.
According to the instructor, starting in October:
1) Non-residence NV permits will be good for 5 years (instead of 3).
2) They will be good from the time the permit is issued, as opposed to your birthdate.
3) They will have 3 types of permits:
a) Any revolver - when you qualify, you can use one revolver and then your permit will be for ANY revolver, including derringers, except for those belt-type derringers
b) Specific semi-autos - this is the same as it has been.
c) Any revolver and specific semi-autos

The instructor also mentioned that Nevada will begin to have reciprocity with other states that have similar standards (i.e. amount of training, etc...). The instructor did not yet know which states will be recognized by Nevada, but he supposed that CA CCW's would be.

Don't count on it. California does not have a database for them to check if the CCW is valid.

I am crossing my fingers for Florida to re reconized. But even that is a maybe.

I also just added my new 1911"s to my Nevada permit. I discussed the same issues with my instructor. He feels there is no way Ca will be on the list and that the Florida permit will be recognized but only for Florida residents. He also didn't believe Utah would make the cut.

We will know soon.

California will not get grant reciprocity to Nevada, you can count them out.

Yes, CA-DOJ does have a CCW data base. Florida does not have them same training standards as Nevada. Count them out too.
