Default Letting a LEO I have a CCW

I own a business next to a mini mart. They had a breakin lastnite. The owners are Korean and dont speak good english. I mean, they speak english, its just kind of hard to understand them clearly. I have known them a long time and do a lot of translating for them. The K.C.S.O. will be here shortly to complete their investigation. When I speak to the officer, I need to let him know I have a CCW and my firearm is on my person now. Now here is my question. How can I tell him discreetly. Nobody knows I carry. My Korean friend will be right next to me when I have to speek to the officer. Do I pull the officer aside? Is there a secret 10 code to let him know? I dont want anybody to know I am carrying. Sorry so long. Thanks.

Hand the LEO your ID and rice paper but with a note asking to not mention the rice paper to bystanders. That's what I would do.

Or pull him to the side as you mentioned. If you do that you can ask if he not disclose it to anybody.

The note might be a little awkward. Well either way it might end up awkward.

Good luck!

I keep a little Post-It note stuck in my ID wallet that asks to not mention the CCW permit out loud for bystanders to hear. The LEOs I interacted with in the past seemed fine with that approach and kept it under wraps.

You could also say, "can we keep the CCW 10-35?"
As long as it's not CHP or LAPD they'll know what you mean.

I don't know about you guys, but a citizen talking code to some LEOs might make you look like a bit of a smart a$$. Keeping it simple and polite goes a long way in your favor.

I may be missing something, but if they don't speak and understand English too well, is is really necessary to talk in "code"?

I think the person above means 10-36 (confidential information), not 10-35 (which is a time check!) :-)

That's not the 10-codes I learned at the academy or at any agency I've work at or communicated with.
10-35 means confidential info.

Here is one source:

Probably not a great idea. Funny though.
