Default Adding Guns to CCW

I have the appointment to inspect my gun(s) for my CCW, however, the DOJ is taking longer than expected getting back the registration on 2 other guns that I wanted to put on the license. So, at this point I can only put on my Kimber ultra. How difficult is it to add guns?

Make an appointment to have the new guns inspected. Make an appointment to go to PSD and have them added. Pay $10 per gun (I think). Voila!

Not difficult at all. If you have not already "qualified" with them, you will need to. Then the inspection, then make an appointment to "add on". You will have to pay an additional $10 to add on. They will be typed on the same license, so, if you are one of those that are inclined to laminate, do not do it until after you add them.

Ir sounds like he has already qualified, he just needs them in his name.

You do not need them in your name to get them inspected, you need them in your name to get them typed on your permit.

Get them inspected.

I went ahead and got them inspected anyway. The Armory fella did have a laugh at the North American 22 with smithed sites, as you did Greg, but liked the cdp ultra and colt national match. I have to go back an do an "add on" with Trish as the DOJ is running about 6 weeks now and mine were not listed yet. Most importantly, I got the permit with the Kimber on it.

Wow, you are on top of things. The new person said that "she was cleaning up everything" and sending out a lot of notification letters. She was quite amicable.

That's because I do this for a living. It's not part time or a hobby.

I just learned the hard way - If you shoot the NAA 22 LR or Mag DO NOT USE PMC ammo! I was doing my 75 rounds quickly for my backup gun qualification and the cylinder was getting very hot. My 38th shot set off my 39th shot simultaneously, which just happened to be above my right thumb. The end of the shell is missing, along with about a 1" by .25" strip of skin and half the skin of my knuckle on that thumb. It just stopped oozing after 5 days....

Fortunately PMC just went out of business (I wonder why??!!). I bought my ammo at the last "Gunshow of the West" not knowing any better. The NAA manual states that you should not use PMC ammo on the very last page (I had not seen the manual beforehand as it was tucked under the foam). Otherwise I love the gun!! I had about 200 rounds through it before the incident.

Needless to say, the gun didn't get qualified and the instructor won't qualify it even though it is an ammo issue. Can anyone suggest a place I can get it qualified?

I wish you the best with the gun - let us know when it actually gets approved on your permit!

What kind of qualification do you need. You mention "backup" and then 75 rounds.

Hi CCWI,

My anniversary today, so I'll keep it short.

Basically I took a course from one of the "other" CCW trainers (hadn't seen this web site yet and all the well-deserved accolades you get) and the process had us do a lot of shooting (around 200 rounds) with our "primary" weapon and the a "rapid firing" of 75 rounds with our secondary weapon(s) from the 3, 5, & 7 yard markers. I had the impression that that was pretty standard. I'm interested in getting qualified on that gun before I submit all my final paperwork. I'd be willing to take a day class or join the end of another CCW class to get it included (and of course compensate the instructor....).

I purchased the NAA 22 mag since I'm often in my business when it is very hot, so I'm not wearing a lot of clothing to hide my weapon and my risk level is lower. I certainly want to be carrying my XD-40 when I carry the $2k in cash out late at night (basically the only practical time I can do it). I'm not in the best part of town and have a "homeless" problem where they often show up drunk.... I just want to be as prepared as I can based on the situation.

Thanks for all your help!
