Cdog...

I don't know who the "other" trainer was, but there are some real charlatans down your way. Some have ruined a lot of good people's chance at getting a CCW in your county.

I CAN vouch for CCWI. I have indeed staked my life on his training (as have many others in your area) .

The reason i mentino this is because you stated:

or join the end of another CCW class to get it included
I would suggest taking it from the top from a guy who knows his stuff. As i don't know who you went with before, I am not slamming him personally. I just know that the odds are against you getting good training from the pool that is available to you folks.

Good luck

Thanks for all your help!
OCSD has a outline that they give the trainers. Hate to tell you this, there is no primary, secondary. You are allowed to qualify with three guns.

OCSD Course of fire
24 rounds 3 yard line
24 rounds 5 yard line
24 rounds 7 yard line
Total 72 rounds.

Now you know why I asked the questions.

Yes you can do a add a gun. You need to shoot the 72 rounds only. The evenings of the 15th and 30th are my next two times.

If there is ever an opportunity to train with CCWI you would be urged to go with it. I did plan a trip and was lucky enough to have a training set up around my trip south. With enough notice sometimes things can happen. I consider my self very lucky that all worked out.

If I was going for the Mustang, I would have had to lie...

Default Adding to CCW - El Dorado County

I just found out that the El Dorado County SO limits CCW to three handguns. I have a HK USP .45, HK USP .40, and HK P2000SK .40 listed. One will have to rotate out to add a Kahr PM9. I think it will be the USP .40.

I should have no more tough decisions until the HK45C hits the approved list :-)

See number 4 below

12131.5. (a) A firearm shall be deemed to satisfy the requirements
of subdivision (a) of Section 12131 if another firearm made by the
same manufacturer is already listed and the unlisted firearm differs
from the listed firearm only in one or more of the following
features:
(1) Finish, including, but not limited to, bluing, chrome-plating,
oiling, or engraving.
(2) The material from which the grips are made.
(3) The shape or texture of the grips, so long as the difference
in grip shape or texture does not in any way alter the dimensions,
material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel,
the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the
firearm.
(4) Any other purely cosmetic feature that does not in any way
alter the dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the
magazine well, the barrel,
the chamber, or any of the components of
the firing mechanism of the firearm.

So since there are dimensional and functional changes changes to the HK45 weapon system that makes it different from other HK approved handguns, this would only apply if HK did not plan to submit the HK45 to CA DOJ for testing. I just hit another web site which stated that HK was not submitting the HK45 for testing to CA because of the lack of a magazine disconnect.

Is that your understanding? I'll call HK to confirm but everytime I get someone on the phone there they tell me to move.

You hit the nail on the head. Thet were trying to get it as another USP, CA-DOJ said no. They will not put a mag disconnect on that gun. DOA

I went to SBCSD to add my model 60 to my ccw and they charged me 24.00, copied the serial number off the gun took my fingerprints on the new permit and told me they would mail it to me with the jframe added. No inspetion, and no qualification on the gun. The requirements from department to department are like night and day. I have a friend that holds a OC CCW, and the whole process is very different from what he went through. What a weird state we live in.

Be thankful its that easy for you. Down here in the OC, the most difficult part is setting up an appointment to get inspected.

At least it's different from department to department. If there was a unified standard, the whole state would be like LA.
