GEEEEZZZZZ!!! Could SOMEONE please explain the rationale behind this limitation? I just don't get it. If you can have only 2 on the permit, do they think that you will only OWN two guns? Or if you have 12 on your permit, do they think that you will CARRY ALL TWELVE all the time? What gives?

The ONLY POSSIBLE EXPLANATION is that they want to hold some sort of unrighteous dominion over your permit. It can only be some sort of power play. "Yeah, so if you want to exercise your rights in my county, you're gonna do it by my rules."...no matter how stupid those rules may be.

What on earth? I've been doing backgrounds for things a heck of a lot more sensitive than CCW's, for over 25 years, and I've never had to go after a legal description of a subject's residence. Rental records and occasionally assessor's records, but never a legal description. Do you have any idea what caused that?

I know it is ridiculous to have the 2 or even 3 limit for firearms on the permit, but that is the way they handle it in my area. The county limit is 3. My local town PD has the 2 firearm limit. What am I supposed to do boycott my issuer?

I am only doing the best I can, but at least I am able to exercise my right to self defense. 2 firearms are better than none with no permit. Perhaps some of the restrictions on our rights may ease up with some of the new rulings from the courts.

Well.... I have a real answer for you now. My assumption was incorrect.

I went in today to provide that additional paperwork and they said "Hey, as long as you're here, why don't we get you into the NEW system"... So I had to go back down the hall for pictures again... then go back to Employee Services and give them an electronic thumb print and an electronic signature. Now my CCW will be issued in the new card style. I may end up being the first issued this type of card in SB County. Others are in the new system, but applied after I did.

On another note.... Joyce confirmed that all I have remaining before issuance is my neighborhood check and that it should happen this week!

I'll bet the new cards get issued faster than the old because they already have you in the system and once you complete the process they just have a couple of keystrokes to print it rather than having to type it up....

Nope.... just one of their requirements from the CCW packet.

There were a few "over the top" requirements.... I had to provide a notarized release for them to conduct a background investigation....

Neighborhood check? So now your neighbors have to be nice people too or no rice paper? What gives?

I prefer to be one of the first two kind and to learn from others' mistakes.

They talk to the neighbors to make sure your not a crazy person and to confirm you live there.

They came to my house when they knew I would be gone but that someone else would be home.

Nothing over the top requesting a notarized release. Usually not done, but some record sources refuse to provide records unless the release is notarized. I'm a little surprised that it isn't more common.

"Neighborhoods" are among the best ways to find out about a person. Whacko neighbors are rarely a problem, at least as long as the BI investigator is competent. Whacko neighbors stick out like a sore thumb. When I pick up a whacko neighbor, I might do one or two more than required, but by the time I'm done, it'll be clear just who the whacko is. I won't stop until it is clear.

Went to SBCSD main office to drop/add hardware to my permit. They took my picture and I hope to get my ID card type permit asap.

I'm past my one month mark. I check the mail everyday to see if I got denied. Everyday its the usual junk. Who was it that said quick to deny or a long time to approve? Or something like that.
