I sent you the standard Department of Justice application for a concealed weapons permit. I appreciate you asking for the possibility of receiving such and maybe saving you the time and effort to in filling the paperwork out. As you are probably aware, obtaining a CCW is difficult and as of this date, our agency has not issued any CCW's. The only CCW's that I have heard being issued through my career are to Reserve Police Officers or citizens where their line of work dictates it, for example: citizen who transport expensive jewelry or goods that are high in value.

If you have any questions or would like to talk about it further, please feel free to give me a call.

...PS: I deleted the names from this letter to protect the innocent.
Should I call and see if I can get anywhere? I have had a permit for about 12 years plus plenty of training in firearms and instruction in the use of deadly force.
Same as L.A.

Default lack of common sense

That is extremely idiotic to say that those things are reason enough to let you carry a gun, but the protection of your own life is not. How absolutely ridiculous!

I can not stand the lack of common sense when it comes to the issuance of ccw's in this state!
I completely agree with you Truckoholic! I never understood the concept that jewelry or money is any good cause for issuance. The only real cause is defense of self or others.
In El Dorado county, the sheriff clerk wrote in big letters on my application several years ago, "Carries Money". I had a small business then. Frankly, I was far more at risk when I was going out for a movie downtown, than I ever was carrying $10,000 in cash in my pocket going to the bank. Invariably, there are thugs riding in or loitering around the light rail that I use frequently. That is the worst.

I should write in big letters on my ccw: Carries a 5 year old on shoulders, buys candy at the store for 7 year old, protects wife with purse (with possible money inside).
