Default Considered One or Two Guns?

A buddy and I were having breakfast earlier this a.m. He was bouncing the idea off me that his pistol in .40/.357 sig could be considered as one pistol on a permit. His reasoning is that you qualify with a .357, but that you can load it with .38s. I pooh-poohed his reasoning because it would entail physically changing the barrel. And though the model will function in both calibers, I think that it would be listed as two pistols (one in each caliber). But I have to admit, I would secretly hope that it would be possible to list it as one pistol. Our next breakfast is riding on this.

As I understand it, they can list the gun as having multiple calibers. So it would be just one on the permit. I think it is based off of the serial number (as long as it is on the frame) for what defines a gun and not how many calibers it can shoot.

I have a .357 on my permit. It shoots .38 as well. One gun.

I've heard different. For instance, if you have a Glock 23 (.40) and drop a 9mm barrel or a 357 Sig barrel in it, it's considered a different gun. As usual, I could be wrong, so it sounds like a question for Greg, unless someone wants to call Dwayne.

No problem. To be sure, I just got off the phone w/ the armory and was told that if you have a gun that can take more than one barrel, you need to leave in the barrel that you got approved with. Using a second barrel/caliber would be considered a second gun. I asked him about him 357/38 example and he said it doesn't apply since it's the same barrel.

38/357 is the same barrel, 40/357 sig is not. For a barrel change you use another line on your CCW. Per Dewayne

To my Buddy without whose help this thread would not have started Needer-needer-needer!!! If you were a real man and not a "Miss Nancy", you would extend the nutritional reward to the two who covered my 6 (and F.I. makes 3 gosh what a suck-up!) Thanks to everyone for all the input!
