Default CCW in UT and NV?

If I wanted to get a non-resident CCW for UT and NV, am I better to apply in UT or NV and are there any instructors in the Ventura or LA County areas?

I understand that there are other states covered by these states CCW's, but other than AZ these are the only three states needed in the near future.

Thanks for reading and responding, this forum is always helpful.

Just get your UT CCW. Utah publishes a list of approved CCW instructors. CCWInstructor is one, IIRC. Another of "our" instructors on this forum is DocAmentler. He is a very good instructor as well but he only gets down into So Cal every so often. I'm not sure about other instructors on this forum that work in your area though. (So Cal instructors, if I have't named you, it's not a slam, it's just that I'm not familiar with you and I'm from Nor Cal...)

Bottom line is get a UT CCW. As long as you were taught the material Utah wants you to know by a Utah approved instructor, you're good to go. After that, just fill out the application and the other needed materials...

One nice thing about the Utah permit is that you can carry any gun you want with it where the Nevada one has to have the specific make and models that you qualified with in the class. Not serial numbers but still. Much nicer to be able to carry whatever gun you want to without having to make sure it is on your permit. And Utah is valid in more states.

I agree with Truckoholic. The Utah CCW is much more flexible and has greater reciprocity.

I have both.

My Nevada CCW has "Kimber .45 Cal" and "Revolver" as authorized carry weapons. That pretty much covers me for everything I would want to carry, but it does preclude carrying some of my non-Kimber pistols and my derringer if I should get a hankering to carry something different.

Thanks,

Poogsdad
