My good cause is two pages long and includes CYA for me and the issuing agency, detailed reasons for need, the issuing law enforcement agency's own policies, examples of situations I deal with frequently, areas where response times are nil, etc. Geo-political element variables not withstanding...or flexible within your cause.

Every two years you have to "good cause" your renewal too. A good cause has to be something that can be used year after year and stick. It has to be something you can articulate in depth and detail and always be a valid reason through policy changes, sheriff elections, change in times, change in LE staff and something you can always show as legit and current.

You have to put alot of thought into your cause so it cannot be easily voided in time or changes of the issuing agency.

And you have to be HONEST about it.

If you had to provide additional documention when you applied, the interviewer probably wrote down what you needed on a sheet called "CCW Supporting Document Information" and handed you that sheet. The seven GC's are listed there (I won't name them here.)

Tonight at our "O" frame amoury class, CCWI fielded two calls fom people with problems with their good cause. The both used the same GC that does not work.

Sounds like if others would stop giving out that good cause statement that causes problems... maybe CCWI could take a short vacation... well, Ok.. maybe a nap... with one eye open...

"Good Cause" is to vague. Hopefully, someday California will do away with the "Good Cause" requirement. Better yet California became "Shall Issue".

Hoser, you are 100%, USDA Approved correct. I humbly apologize for even thinking that you might be mistaken! Way back when I first applied I was handed that sheet, learned my lesson and was never handed that sheet again. You guys are really on the ball!!
