If those six categories were made public, OCSD would be forced to assume that anyone using one of this six read it on a message board and didn't actually have the good cause; in other words, if it were made public, OCSD would have to invalidate them and start over from square one. It would reverse all the progress that has been made to date. That's just common sense to me.

I just posted the three hardest ones to figure out. These three are also defined in P.C. 12050. (no secret) Most of the general public won't figure those out. The other three can be found by actually reading this forum. Somebody just called me and recited those three to me. It's not hard.

If you were # 3, wouldn't you be covered by H.R.218 and not need a CCW?

Not in this state. You need to be retired and qualify to your agency or state standard. CA-DOJ, CA-POST does not have a standard, per Penal Code. Federal Agencies do not qualify their retired agents.

So, the short answer, YES you need a CCW.

Cool Get Him Off For A While!!!!

I KNOW WE ALL LOVE AND ADMIRE AND RESPECT AND PRAISE AND ADORE AND LOVE...(OH...I SAID THAT)....SIR GREG OF CCW INSTRUCTOR,
HOWEVER...There are some of us out there that really need a few important answers to some questions about some advanced classes that we all want to take with him...and soon...and with our "significant others!!!" AND...Since I actually have my "Significant Wife" here with me today, we sent Sir Greg an "E-Mail" with some questions about our classes next week, and with "You'all" making him spend sooooo much time with him on this wonderful "Website," he has not had two (2) minutes to answer us. So leave him alone for us for a "few"...so there....(Tee hee, ha ha.).

Everyone...just kidding, it is great to read anything that he has to reply to, and of course...the wonderful postings and replies from everyone here!

Travel and Carry Safely, and have a great week. Don't forget Greg's great classes, as we have not, and I know that I will learn much...even in the "Basic" Class. An attitude of always open to learn, is an attitude of always caring for yourself and others...to...SURVIVE!!!! (Someday I will grow up to be as good of a "Pilot" as Sir "X."

I understand my good cause is my good cause, I wouldn't lie nor do I believe that most gun owners would. My experience with most gun owners is that they are extremely law abiding people. I was just wondering if I fell into one of the six categories. As far as the three categories listed in the previous post I am batting 0/3.

Hello Turtle, I'm sure that we all agree with you. And we can appreciate your desire to obtain a CCW. This forum is here to help those who qualify and to educate those that wish to learn. The Staff, Founding Members, CCWI, FI, etc are very Old and Wise.(Except FI who is not old ) Like a dictionary, this forum will answer many questions. But like a dictionery you have to open it to the proper page. The various threads are very informative. I'm sure that you'd rather not be spoon fed, utilize the entire forum, you will find answers to questions that you might not even have thought about.

On the day of interview OC Staff asked me the now famous question at the front desk: "So why do you need to carry a gun?" This forum had me ready for the question and so I answered (BTW, I did not say "Because I can...") After hearing my answer OC Staff and I chit chat for a bit and I tell him "thanks for asking that question, you gave me a chance to practice saying it out loud which will help me in the interview...” and he tells me "Oh, I'm famous on an internet message board for asking everyone that question.”

I assume if he's checking the board, others within PSD prolly are as well...

Actually, talking with him before the interview helped a lot. I know my confidence increased when he said… “You have a good reason and answered well. I’m sure you'll do fine."
