Default CCW renewals that have been denied

An acquantance of mine, who previously had a Calif. CCW was denied on his second subsequent renewal. He telephoned me today to relay the disappointing news and read the opening statements of the letter of notification from OCSD PSD. He also then followed up with a phone call and was informed that "Avid Shooter" was no longer an acceptable reason as being taught at the firm that he took his CCW class. CCWI had talked to me a month back and explained that "Avid Shooter" was never a category for approval of a CCW. Does anyone else know of any similar cases? This person is also an NRA Firearms Instructor, and has CCWs from four other states. When he started his renewal process, it seemed that he was good to go using his reasons as previously stated. He asked my my renewal reasons, but I would not tell him my reasons stating that it would not apply to his situation.
For all you guys out there that plan on applying, I guess that it would be prudent to pass your reasons by the Founding Members, CCWI and his beautiful, kind, intelligent female Expert before you throw your paperwork into the circle. These guys can really give you good advice as to what direction to take. Does any one think that because so many CCWs were issued lately that they are rethinking the approvals?

No, they are not rethinking. Avid shooter has never worked, nor will it ever.

Urban Legend of OC. I'm sorry that the course provider gave him bad advice. You get what you pay for.

Hello CCWI, would you mind telling us what OCSD would consider as acceptable good cause so that people can see if they have a match? Thanks!

CCWI, nor any of the other CalCCW Staff or Founding Members will do this because of one simple reason: your Good Cause is YOUR Good Cause. It is unique to you and ONLY you.

I already have my own (no, I'm not telling what it is), so this question is not really for me. If this website wants to help increase CCW issuance, then broad categories should be discussed so that qualified people who never thought of even applying might have their interest piqued. Similarly, not-so-good causes should be brought to light so that individuals will not tread down the same path. Being cryptic will only make CCW mysterious voodoo rather than logical procedure.

You can always run your GC by one of the more qualified board members, so you can get some feedback, as long as it is done in private, by PM. That way your privacy is protected.

You can PM any of the founding members at any time. They are available to assist you, just not publicly. It's not about mysterious voodoo ... it's about maintaining everyone's privacy.

Well.. but it's a bit complicated. We are here to increase CCW issuance through education about the process as it is in place currently. Each individual has his or her own set of circumstances that relate to their situation. Also we are not the decision makers: the ultimate decision makers reside within each issuing agency so we can only offer comments on what you have as again each set of circumstances is different.

Hope this makes sense to you.

So, your asking people to list what works and what doesn't. That will never happen on this site, EVER! Your good cause is your good cause, and if it doesn't work, that means you are not meeting the standards to get one issued. END OF STORY!

Now I get it. I though he was really sucking up to CCWI and giving him an SME title on women.

I didn't think anyone was talking about me since I am not a female expert! If this was a compliment in my direction then thank you!
