Unhappy pain in the a$$

I've been carrying my Springfield XD .45 lately as the daily threat level has risen at work. My employer asked me to beef up for certain reasons.

I'm using a blackhawk IWB holster and the thick gun with the thick holster is causing my glute to cramp. I can only wear it at my 5:00 as anywhere else it hurts more or prints like crazy. With my j-frame I could wear it almost anywhere in my belt band and it was fine. This current set up is literally a pain in the butt.

Can you go OWB? Maybe you need a smaller .45.

I'd like to get a Kahr. But $$$ is hard to come by these days.

Take a look at the outside the waistband Bianchi 7/7L. It's got a dual slot system and rides either with a cant or high ride straight. It sits right at the belt, so any loose shirt can conceal it decently. Tuck in a tee shirt, put the holster on and then put on a short sleeve button down loose and it's gone. Or any dress overshirt. I wear it "high ride" with a sweatshirt, flannel or hoodie pull-over and it's great.

I'm using a threatsolutions.com holster for my 5 in. XD 45... I can wear it all day... I occasionally get nerve pain in the .... what's that nerve...ummm...sciatic I believe....area but mostly the way the holster design is it spreads things around... it is also very thin... I am waiting on a TT Gunleater iwb for my glock 20 which should do much the same as it is a similar design... I wear the gun at about 4:00 the front attachment clip over the belt loop...

Welcome to TSC Holsters

Reinforced mouth IWB Holster

I find the rear attachment point helps to pull the butt of the XD around further so that the gun doesn't print as badly... you could go to a smaller gun but a loose shirt and a holster with two attachment points might help - The kydex holster is also very fast and while I bought the holster for the 5 in. gun, the compact can also be carried in it... if I was prone to do such things...
As to the little kimber... it is cute and small and makes a great pocket gun... real full size guns need a sturdy platform for all day carry and for a good smooth draw...and reholster...reholster is pretty important... ie:... the goblin got hisself shot and is on the floor of my shop making blood angels and the mounties show up and start pointing guns at people I probably want to reholster my gun before the local gendarme bursts in the door... or not... depending upon how exciting I want things to get... having lived through exciting times at that point I might want things to get unexciting and put the gun away... and I might need to do that one-handed...you will not regret purchasing quality equipment...

If you're not already you might try carrying something on the opposite side to balance out the load. A couple spare magazines, cell phone and a small light might do the trick.
If that don't work you might try a Smartcarry. I've head people with back trouble have had good luck with it.

I carry a double stack 9mm compact at 4:30-5 o'clock and have no problems now. In the beginning (several years ago) it was painful to sit down as it pushed the weapon into my kidney and top of my buttocks on that side.

It took (IIRC) about 2 weeks to toughen up over the extra pressure. I had to do some very minor "adjustments" to my holster (cant angle and height) but that was easy. Now I can sit in bucket seats or with a lumbar roll and not have any problems. In fact, it feels weird when I don't have it on and then sit down somewhere.

exactly... and maybe no ringing or sound cause if fired my 44 magnum smoke wagon in the front seat of my kia at the goblin trying to carjack me... with all of the windows up and now I ain't got no more glass nor eardrums.........

just one more reason I don't want any more confusion than necessary and want the gun put up... hence the suggestion I be able to reholster one handed....

Have you gotten a certified letter saying your CCW is revoke and to mail it back?

I haven't heard of any going out. Please advise.

Back to the original post, isn't this the employer's problem? There isn't enough info, but if a snubby was adequate for SD, asking an employee to upgrade for a "threat level" increase is on the employer, in my mind. Get a catalog, circle some cool stuff, and say "this is what it takes".
