I ALWAYS walk with a 5 C cell light. Legal in all 50 states.

The key is mental preparation to use it.

I received the whole series of shots. It is done in your abdomen and around your navel. It was no fun, I forget if they were 7, but I think 12 is the correct number. I do not remember as I was about 12 years old.The dog died !

Next time bring the pepper spray.

Glad you alive and unharmed to tell about it.

I am very pleased you and your family ended up safe and no one was hurt.

This was by far the best outcome to this situation.

I also went through the shots for Rabies when I was about 5. I do not recall very much about the incident as I believe I blocked it out. It must have been a very unplesant experience. I do know I made the LA times on this incident. It was about 1955.

If a dog charges you, sometimes the pepper spray is just going to give him some seasoning before he bites in.

This reminds me of the incident where my grandparents' border collie was attacked in their backyard by a trespassing dog, and my grandmother went out to break it up. The trespassing dog bit my grandmother, and subsequently died. The causal connection was never established but her friends never let her forget it!

Who died? Grandmother or the trespassing dog?

I'm assuming the dog died or "never let her forget it" wouldn't apply.

Glad VL made it through the altercation with no bites. Never underestimate the damage a dog can inflict...a SMALL dog bit me, i spent a full week in the hospital, almost lost my entire arm from the incident. Dog bites can cause severe damage and bring on very life threatening infections.

Unfortunately, a crazed rushing dog is a VERY difficult target, and they can be very difficult to stop, even if you inflict some major harm to the dog, they can still hurt you back, usually worse. Although i grew up with dogs, i am not quite ready to have one, despite the pleading from our kids to get a dog.

If you must get technical...

The "her" could be talking about the dog since the sentence is ambiguous. For example: If the grandmother died and the friends never let the dog (her) forget it by smacking the dog everyday. I know it is an illogical inference, but I usually try not to assume what someone means that is not specifically conveyed.

My point is that my question about who died is not completely unfounded, albeit you are probably right about it being the grandmother.

Most dogs don't have "friends" per say. I'd be willing to bet you a box of WWB that the dog was the one that died.
