It was an honest, real and simple question that was only asking for a simple factual answer but the thread was closed right after my post without my question being answered which is the exact opposite of what this forum "claims" to be.

Robert,

All you had to do was PM me and ask the question. I would have answered it just like I did in a PM to you.

As far as your "claim" once again, PMing me versus whinnying about on a totally unrelated thread would have been better too.

" suggest reading ON COMBAT, by Lt. Col. Dave grossman."

Second that. I read my copy within 24 hours of receiving it. Changed my whole perpective on self defense AND gun ownership. I owe special thanks to "A Guy" for getting me to read that book. Before that, a gun was either for hunting or fun shooting. Now it is a part of a 'toolchest' in life.

El Gato, I have pulled my duty weapon and discharged it at another person. You re-live the experience over and over. However, I still believe I did the right thing. By the way, a 357 sounds awfully good in an apartment complex when you are pulling the trigger!!!

The BG in my case leaned out of a car window as it was leaving and pointed a gun at me. I was in fear of my life and the danger presented to the residents of the complex that I was a security guard for.

Reminds me of "Getting the runs". I was one time up on a rooftop, lit up a cigarette, I was not a smoker, but a stupid teen. Wrong place, wrong time, in middle of a revolution. Well, I learned that light travels faster than sound after I saw muzzle flashes and the some tracers fly by, the booming sound... Hit those stairs like really fast.
That is "Getting the runs"

Is this feeling common with those of you who have had to unholster yours?
I have never had to unholster mine and hope that I never have to. That being said, this is my philosophy. If you used strong verbal commands, given time and/or there was an immediate threat of bodily harm or injury to yourself or someone else you should unholster and shoot with very little hesitation.

There are exceptions, and I don't know your full story. For example, if shooting in your situation had a decent probability of hitting an innocent person, then yes not firing may be the correct answer.

It is always good to re-asses the situation after for better outcomes, but never second guess yourself.

If the situation was just illegal activity, they don't know you are there, and you can not perceive any serious bodily harm or endangerment of life, then just get out of there and call 911 immediately.
