Default First LEO contact

Well, I was walking out of the grocery store with a few bags of food when my fiance called. She had been in an auto accident a few miles away on her way home. So I head over to make sure she is ok and on the way I think to myself uh oh I'm carrying and I'm sure there will be LEO on scene to take a report. When I got to the accident I parked in the nearby parking lot walked over and hugged my fiance (she was ok thankfully). As the officer came over to give her the other party's info the conversation went like this.

Me "Officer this is my fiance she called me while I was shopping, I need to show you this" *handed him my CCW*

BTW this was Sac County Sheriff

Officer looks at peice of paper and says " Are you on probation or parole? It's cool don't worry" and then he starts to turn around and walk off.

Me " No sir, It's a CCW"

Officer " Oh I don't see those too often" then he continues on his way. Does some more paperwork and tells us to have a nice night.

I was suprised how non chalant (SP) he was. Or maybe he wasn't really paying attention to what I said. Either way that was all so I left with my groceries and my fiance followed in her battered car.

Most seasoned officers realize the a CCW holder is a good guy.

Well handled.

Does Placer require you to notify LEO's, like OC does?

It doesn't require it, but it was my second day carrying just in case he saw I was packing I didn't want there to be any confusion.

Good Job I would much rather be safe then sorry. Even though the LEO didn't show it most of them appreciate the heads up.

Yep, if you are sneaky about it they may get the wrong idea and give you some flak. You handled that like a pro I'd say, very commendable!

Good job of thought process on day two ... whether you had to show in Sac Co, or not, I think it really helped define you as a "solid" citizen and not one of those degenerite politicians ....
