Sounds like you did a great job all the way around. Glad all went ok. Staying alert on the way out might have saved someones life that night. Situation awarness is your number one defense out there! ![]() |

Sounds to me like you did everything in textbook fashion.
I've heard a lot of people stating that letting an LEO know "up front" that you are licensed and carrying is "a bad thing" depending on where you live, and that knowing what is required by your issuing authority will dictate how you proceed. While I agree with that in concept, I think what you did is the ONLY thing to do regardless of issuing authority. Sounds like you have a very savvy teenager too. ![]()

Savage -
Sounds like you did good. Couple of observations (i'm not second guessing NOR saying you did wrong). 1) there is no requirement to show you CCW up here. That is an OC requirement. (again, not that you did wrong). 2) Due to your location - I'm guessing the Wal Mart on Misourri Flat, but the one down in RC is much worse, so I'm curious. 3) I got my first speeding ticket today near where I am guessing your warehouse is... It was a RCPD motorcycle, but the officer was Sac Sheriff. Interesting... 4) Would love to have coffee one of these days - I'm in Shingle Springs now. Holler some day when you get a chance...

Rancho Cordova contracts with the Sac Sheriff's Department. That's why you were stopped by a Deputy instead of a City PD Officer.

I thought retired, suspender wearing folk drove slow... And, to Savagemaxx, how did you come to your screen name? Also, if possible, consider training courses for that type of BG situation. Sounds like you did everything just fine, considering you were out numbered.

Well done, savagemaxx. Well done. It's too bad these kind of stories aren't heard by more people, but it doesn't fit the stereo type that most have that CCW holders will fire with any excuse.
