Default Got pulled over today

So here I am rushing the kids to the inlaws and got pulled over in, believe it or not, the prius for speeding.

Officer: "Do you know how fast you were going?"

Me: "Yes....72mph"

Officer: "License and registration please"

Me: "No problem" - Handed my license, CCW, and registration.

Officer: "Commercial license eh......"

Me: "Yes Sir."

Officer: "Are you carrying now?"

Me: "Yes Sir."

Officer: "Well this ones on me. Slow down and Merry Christmas."

Me: "Merry Christmas to you to and thank you."

Not to brag but it seems to me I have gotten out of more tickets for either the CCW or having my fire chiefs badge. Is this common courtesy with LEO?

my guess is that LEO's just don't want to deal with an armed person, law abiding, licensed, or not...

If LEO's didn't want to deal with armed persons they wouldn't be LEOs. Maybe he was just in the Christmas spirit and decided not to write driver a ticket.

My guess is being polite, honest, a CCW holder, and the fire dept. sticker on the back of your car.

Obviously he cut you a break for scoring an A+ on what TO DO in a LEO traffic stop while carrying with a CCW. Perfect procedure and attitude.

However you do get score an F for speeding in the first place!

You passed the Attitude test. Most CCW holders do.

I would have to agree. You'd passed the Attitude Test. It might not get you out of a ticket, but it might make a difference in what you get written for! I wonder why it is that the AH types get more tickets...

Oh, and no joke about the Prius... they'll top out quite a bit higher than that.

Years ago (when the limit was 55) I was in court to fight a parking ticket. A woman ahead of me had a ticket for going 70+ on the freeway. She pleaded guilty and as proof claimed that her car could not do 70. The judge adjourned and went with her, the cop and the city attorney out to the parking lot to look at the car. 5 minutes later the were back in, laughing, and he dismissed the ticket. I always wondered what the heck she was driving.

She plead guilty and then proved the car couldn't do 70? Did you mean to say she plead "not guilty"?

Being a Fire Chief probably carries more clout than a CCW but never-the-less, its good to know.

I don't think I'd want to be pulled over on a holiday. The LEOs (and I really love'em) just might be a little resentful about drawing duty on a holiday and less inclined to give out breaks.

I know that I'm in Colo and that has little relevance in Cal, but we were cautioned in our CCH class about receiving moving violations, speeding in particular, especially in certain counties. Seems some Colorado County Sheriffs view this as a disregard of the responsibilities that go along with having a CCH permit and have been known to revoke the CCHs of residents of their counties who have been ticketed for speeding.

Default Not a Yugo

Actually it was probably a Lada, a Russian car.

There is a joke in the UK about Ladas, asking why do they have a wind shield wiper on the rear window.

Answer: So you can see where you are going when you push them in the rain.

cheers
