No way I can critique your actions as I was not there seeing it through your eyes. But it sounds like you did a good job.

VERY glad to hear you and your coworkers made it out all in one piece!

So I have to ask, what did the LEO say to you after the fact? Upon learning you had a CCW on you, any comment on why you did or did not act?
He did ask. I told him the I did not think that anybody was in danger. The staff was very calm. They pretended to continue working so that they did not alarm our customer in the store. I have to say that in hind sight, the pharmacy staff was calm and in control. The customers around the pharmacy area did not even know that a robbery was taken place! This actually happen when there was a lot of people around. And in the end, everybody was able to go back to their family that night.

Thanks to all for you support. I cannot over state that you can never over train. Last month I just finished an Advance pistol course and a Night CCW course with Firearms Training Associates. And I do shoot USPSA on the weekend and planning to shoot my first IDPA this Saturday. I know that it was part of my training that kept cool and in control. I am looking forward taking additional classes in '08. Does anybody know of a good instructor ? I will be looking forward to take one of his classes on '08.

It was that BG's lucky day. That could have ended with him arrested or dead...instead he got the goods, his life and freedom. Maybe God was watching over him....and you.

Funny you should say that. LOL

I am taking CCWI's Advanced handgun class for the second time in the very near future. Changed carry guns "platforms" and want some more professional training drawing under stress with my new CCW.

Good Job Sir!!!

I cannot agree more with the many comments regarding your conduct under what was undoubtedly a very stressfull situation.

You stayed in control while monitoring the situation as it evolved. You were prepared to escalate if necesarry but you never allowed the situation to get out of control.

Had it evolved into an eminent danger or active shooter situation, I have no doubt you would have handled yourself well and saved some lives.

You also set an excellent example of the type of self-control and awareness of the responsibilities that come with carrying a firearm.

Speaking as a fellow CCW holder, "You set an excellent example of what a CCW holder should be and made us all look good"!!

Thanks again,

Glad to hear that you are okay and everyone made it out safely.

One nice thing about this site is that you will not see any armchair quarterbacking about what you did. Lots of questions to find out why you did certain things, but nobody telling you that you did the wrong thing. The only way you would have been the victim is if you weren't armed and able to protect yourself if needed.

Sharing something like this helps all of us. Thank you.

The only thing lost was 'stuff'. You used your head and are a shining example of how CCW holders should approach a situation such as this.

Wow what a great thread.

I am pleased that everything turned out Ok and that you and your staff were safe. Looks like everyone on the thread agrees that you did the right thing as do I . You must have been pretty amped up though.

I am interested in your mind set, even though the BG is not pointing the gun at you he has it out ( in my mind once its out of the holster its threatening) and he is robbing the place for drugs so you must have felt threatened to some extent as you have no idea what was going on in his head.

I guess I am wondering where the line is for the CCW holder, I mean do I have to wait for the BG to actually point his Gun/knife at me ? If so there is no way I can draw to protect myself. The only way I can protect myself would be to take initaitive when I feel threatened and that will open up a huge can or worms.

Once agian, great Job of staying in control

Thanks for posting. Sounds like you did a good job of keeping your cool.

And you don't have to re-fi your house for a lawyer....
