Yes you are very correct with that statement.

Sounds like you'll get suspended or expelled and have no recourse because it's a school policy and not a violation of the law. That of course is assuming you allow someone to see your "concealed" firearm. A Smart Carry holster is something I'd suggest so you don't have much if any chance of being made.

Relax there partner... what was it you just posted before this in the Municipal Code section? "Yes, you do. However what does the word concealed mean?" Seems like a little bit of hypocrisy here...

I'm sure next thing will be how the kids at Virginia Tech did the right thing by also not violating school policy too right?

Apples and Oranges pardner! Consequences for a college student getting expelled out of school for a weapons charge against school policy are not pretty. Good luck finding a new school to admit you.

Carrying into a city with a muni code saying you need to get a permit from THE sheriff of THE city from the gold rush days is a little different.

CCWInstructor is a Subject Matter Expert on CCW laws. There is no hypocrisy, just an explanation of the laws and the consequences of violating laws/policies. While an individual may not get arrested for carrying on campus, said person runs the risk of being suspended or expelled.

The muni code was already a moot point when I post. I knew that nobody was violating policy or law.

You might think about relaxing yourself. Your talking my comment from one subject and applying to another, that doesn't work.

Default Depends on where you live/work

I carry 24/7/365 except when I sleep - and then it is close enough to get to while providing time and movement to make sure I am fully awake before I reach it. I live and work in an urban environment in and around drugs, gangs, and street (chronic) homeless. We have taken "ownership" of the surounding neighborhood and some do not like that.

Having threats made against you will make you want to carry as I do. We moved from a not so urban environment where we did not live where I work so carry was most of the time, but not always.

Not everyone needs to carry full-time, but I do. Which makes me practice more often. My wife, who didn't used to "get it" before (thought I was a cop wannabe), now asks me if I am carrying when we go out at night. Once she commented to ouradult daughter, "don't worry, Dad is packing". She gets it now.

Now I would carry even if I didn't have my ticket. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Default Number one rule

Heck... even if it means the oh so fashionable jogging fanny pack that screams gun.

But it's each of our own lives to live with different levels of comfortable.
Number one rule: Have a gun

However, exemptions include: "Any person authorized to carry a concealed firearm pursuant to Penal Code section 12050."

Unfortunately, I cannot find this exemption specifically listed in Penal Code 626.9.

Exemption listing source: http://caag.state.ca.us/firearms/forms/pdf/cfl.pdf

So, what happens if a CCW holder is walking 900 feet away from a California State University?

I believe these are codes which cover school grounds: Penal Code S 626.9; 18 USC SS 921(a)(25), 922(q), 924(a)(4)
Interesting, as many other states do not exempt CCW holders from school grounds, but CA does (?!). If you are traveling by a school without stopping at the school, logic says that you are not in violation. But many of our DAs are not logical.

Yes, CA does exempt CCW from school grounds.

Your sig line needs work, tried by 12 who couldn't figure out how to get of jury duty.

Or who get paid by their employers and the drive to the local court house is much shorter than to work...

You have just described my life through the end of the year. I'm on a federal jury in Santa Ana.

Can't talk about the trial while its underway, of course, but I will have stories afterwards. Thursday's fun was a fire drill, emptied the whole courthouse. Walked down from the 10th floor - and those floors have high ceilings.

Hey I get to legally carry a gun in CA (a nation unto itself) Ill deal with some discomfort.
The CTAC holster was my first holster I got for my Glock 38 it can get very uncomfortable in the car especially for me I have have quite a bit more gut than you do. I recently switched to the Minotaur MTAC Holster also sold by Comp-Tac. It made a world of difference it is should I dare say very comfortable. Sometimes I really do forget I'm carrying especially when I'm driving. I recommend this holster for anybody looking for a good IWB holster try this link Comp-Tac : Products
