Doing the Tourist Thing in Utah
Last June, my family and I decided to go to St George Utah for a vacation.
While there, we decided to take one of those "jeep tours" where they mount bench seats on the flat bed of a pickup and drive you around, showing you the sites (we did the sunset tour). There were two other families on the tour...an American family from California, and a Family from Ireland. At one point during the tour, we came across a group of about 20 wild turkeys. The tour guide made a comment about "wishing we had our shotguns". The Irish husband said "You Americans and your guns!" First off, I wanted to tell him that he, as an Irishman, has no place to judge Americans and their love of guns... But I bit my tongue, and later, as all the women were waiting for the sun to set, the guys were standing around. I brought up his comment, and told him that in Utah, they were so gun friendly that many people carried concealed. We also informed him that most states allowed concealed carry to some degree. The Irishman was shocked, and made a derogatory remark. The driver told him he was carrying right then, that he made that decision when he first started doing the tours because of a cougar stalking the jeep. The other American said that he too, was carrying, because it's his right. The Irishman turns to me as if expecting that the Canadian would side with him. I just broke out into a big *-eating grin. Buddy goes "Oh, Jeez!" at the end, when he was giving a tip to the driver, the driver goes "See...No one got killed!" I really would have loved to be able to attend his slideshow party upon return to Glasgow. I would also have loved to have seen him through the rest of his trip...trying to see if people were carrying or not...

Good story Sens, thanks for sharing. Sounds like a fun time too.
We are sort of planning a future trip to Utah, specifically the Monument Valley area, on the big reservation (Navajo). I have been there a few times before, and LOVE that area. I didnt' want to go until the kids were big enough to appreciate it, but we are ready now.
