I'm going out on a limb, here, about the other story participants possibly carrying guns, themselves. Heh.

--> Police seek robbery suspects, 1 wounded by victim

Allegheny County police are searching for two of the three suspecrets [sic] whose robbery earlier this month was interrupted by a gun-toting victim.

[Gun-toting] Detectives already have arrested one of the suspects, Lolitta Irvin, 20, of Wilkinsburg.

Detectives said she and two [gun-toting] men accosted a Wilkinsburg man at 9:41 p.m. Oct. 6 on Rebecca Street in Wilkinsburg.

The victim, whose name has not been released, broke free from the bandits and pulled a pistol.

He and the suspects fired at each other.

The robbery target was not injured, [...]

However, two [sic, see title] of the [gun-toting] suspects, including Ms. Irvin, were wounded. [...]

No charges have been filed against the victim, who was licensed to carry the gun, which he was licensed to carry, [sic] [...]

Good example why people should carry for self defense.
I wonder if the news agency has a bias against legal CCW since they took it upon themselves to label the victim as "gun toting" and not the robbery suspects?
You only find out that the robbers had a gun when they mention that "He and the suspects fired at each other"
