When my son was 12 and one night snuck in his bedroom window after dark he finally yelled "It's me mom!" only after the third time I called out "Is that you [insert name]?" when I finally announced I was coming in the room with the shotgun. He continued to sometimes come in late but after that decided it was wiser to use the front door.
