Welcome Hayman! Thanks for sharing your story. My old house used to back up to a field. We had lots of bgs come over our fence, and several helicopters in the field. I'm glad your experience turned out well, but you're right to think you might not be so fortunate next time.

If its rural, and your property I think you can open carry if I remember right, welcome to the forum and glad things turned out ok.

Up my way people open carry loaded whether on their property or not.
I just had a new neighbor which I had not yet met who was out looking for her run away horse and she had a .357 on her hip no different than carrying a cell phone.
