Default First Time Carrying Yesterday - Merced County

Yesterday at 10:30 am I picked up my CCW Permit, so naturally by 11:30 I had my holster on and was carrying. I was expecting it to feel strange but other then a poo eating grin the rest of the day I didn’t really notice much difference?

I did have a business dinner last night. I ordered a Coors Light without even thinking about it. About halfway to my mouth I realized “Oh man, you’re carrying knucklehead!” so I asked my buddy to hold my beer and went to my truck to break down, lock up and store my handgun so I could finish my beer.

I don’t know if this is illegal or not but the weapon was not on my person and that was not a bar. It was a lodge. I know the bar rule and the zero alcohol while carrying rule and 100% agree with it. I guess I should officially ask:

QUESTION
If I leave the house carrying but get a last min call to meet up with buddies for a cold one, is breaking down and locking up my hand gun in my truck and not carrying acceptable?

Anyway, over all I really didn’t feel that much different carrying VS not carrying. I had to sit a little side ways in my chair; I felt it on my hip and was a little more conscious of the number of times I had to adjust my pants and/or holster, but that really was it. Is this odd to anyone else? Shouldn’t I have felt special or part of a secret team? Maybe the head nod or wink from others with CCW’s in the room? LOL

Ohh and BTW, when do I learn the handshake? HAHA

The handgun goes in a locked container in your vehicle with the ammo on the other side of the lock, both out of sight. If they allow kids into the bar area, it's a restaurant; if it has a "No one under 21" sign, it's a no-no.

After your 2-year probation, of course.

Default Be aware

One of the most important things you must remember is that you are carrying. Normal routines have an added sense of what you are doing. Stopping for a cold one is now out. Selection of clothing is paramount. Situational awareness is heightened. Your days or nights activities have to be thought out. It is sort of like being called up to the big leagues and you are taking your first at-bat.

Good luck

You mean your first time carrying didn't involve going to Walmart and eating nachos? Someone is going to have something to say about that. We might have to extend that probationary period.

right!! I think kingjes should be penalized by making him get extra jalapenos on his WW nachos. This is a total nacho mission FAIL!! You need to get back out there to WW and complete the mission or

Congrats. Good job on doing the right thing with locking it up.

Bad job on not being at WalMart during your first carry.

Wow! That's almost the full 2 year probation. Not a bad deal.

Congrats on the CCW. Now get your priorities straight: Drink iced tea and carry.
