Take more beer with you--never run out of beer. We used to shoot our empty whisky bottles but they were too hard to police so switched to beer cans.

I think this sums it up pretty good. If I know I am going to go out to have a few drinks then the fire arm stays at home. Like the johnny Cash song says. "Dont take your guns to town" lol

If Im out and about and get invited to a bar for drinks but have my firearm on me, Ill lock it up and have a drink if I really wanna hang out. Keep in mind this is VERY, VERY rare and would have to be a good reason for me.

One cannot just keep a locked up gun in the truck at all times. CCW holders may get a pass if the weapon is listed, but I am not positive. Seems reasonable that we would, but who really knows.
Sorry in advance for the thread jack. I do not believe this statement is correct. I don't see anything in the PC about "transported for purpose". I believe that you can drive around aimlessly 24/7 with an unloaded handgun, as long as it is in a locked container. Can anyone verify this?

12026.1. (a) Section 12025 shall not be construed to prohibit any
citizen of the United States over the age of 18 years who resides or
is temporarily within this state, and who is not within the excepted
classes prescribed by Section 12021 or 12021.1 of this code or
Section 8100 or 8103 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, from
transporting or carrying any pistol, revolver, or other firearm
capable of being concealed upon the person, provided that the
following applies to the firearm:
(1) The firearm is within a motor vehicle and it is locked in the
vehicle's trunk or in a locked container in the vehicle other than
the utility or glove compartment.
(2) The firearm is carried by the person directly to or from any
motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while carrying the firearm,
the firearm is contained within a locked container.
(b) The provisions of this section do not prohibit or limit the
otherwise lawful carrying or transportation of any pistol, revolver,
or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person in
accordance with this chapter.
(c) As used in this section, "locked container" means a secure
container which is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock,
combination lock, or similar locking device.

And yet again we have... Before we start having we may need to take a chill pill. No, not THAT KIND of pill!! I think many of us have been locked up inside for the winter months for too long. Or maybe, this is a product of all the rain we've had this year? I dunno but it seems like some people are getting a little testy. Just wait till 3boysmom gets home and you are all gonna be grounded.

Actually, I don't drink. At all. Ever. So it's a non-issue for me and I was just gonna' stay out of this one....

Drinking or not drinking isn't the issue.

I read it somewhere around PC 750. I cannot find it but will. Could be wrong though. My bad if I am unmisremembering.

According to the DOJ, when I asked them directly and got a written response back, the only firearm that has "directly to and from" restrictions are registered assault weapons. You can drive around with an unloaded firearm in your vehicle, as long as it is unloaded (and in a locked container if it is a handgun). I know I posted this previously, but I think it was about three years ago.

This is why I RARELY drink in bars. Might have had a beer with my steak or pasta (yes, I am white trash), but I didn't carry when I did. I have a 100% ZERO tolerance rule for drinking and driving, so they kinda go hand-in-hand.

I think that it is always better to be safe than sorry, whatever your interpretation of that might be.

Gimper has a point though, the question was whether or not he can leave his CCW piece in his truck and go into a bar... As long as it is in an approved container and stored IAW CA law, and he does not DUI, he should be fine, barring any restrictions put on his CCW and/or county/city laws.

We have a saying in the Army: Do what your rank can handle.
