What a great instructor I mean we all have had instructors that told us treat gun as they are loaded and not put our finger on the trigger, but how many of them actually demonstrate why we shouldn't he's just got a unique teaching style.

True. And the newspaper is only reporting what the police said was told to them by someone unnamed at the church. But, if the NRA instructor claimed it was an NRA class and also brought live ammunition into the classroom, the NRA will be happy to explain that that means it wasn't an NRA class, nor was it how the instructor was trained to teach. The ammo stays out of the classroom, and is only used at the range. That means the instructor wasn't following the NRA curriculum in his class, regardless of what he may have called it. This result is why the NRA has that safety rule, and the instructor had to have known it. Presumably, this was supposed to be a Personal Protection Outside the Home class, but clearly it wasn't quite.

In the "Teach the teacher" instructor classes I've taken they did teach us to involve the student in the lesson plan....to make them a part of the presentation. Also to stimulate different senses to enhance learning.
I don't think this is what they meant ![]() |
