My wife has accused me of "brandishing" while disrobing on occasion

You probably took that thing out of the holster and deserved it.

P.C. 12031 only covers "public places". Even the 9th circuit would laugh at attempts to describe an examination room as such. Heck, last I checked, employees at most gun stores LOC.

Thanks for sharing your experience while carrying on a KP campus. I myself carried there recently. I had an examination and used my LA Police Gear CCW jacket and put my concealed weapon in there to make sure it stays concealed in my jacket. No issues so far. The only thing that would cause me concern is that if a technician or nurse wanted to move my jacket while I was laying down or something to that nature, and tried to move it and wondered why it was so heavy.

There are common sense things you can do to keep your gun concealed while at the doctor.

Word of caution!

I actually work for KP and I am pretty sure it is a blanket policy for all KP sites that guns are not allowed. The providers are required to notify security (code silver) when a weapon is presented. Gun, knife, etc... The fact that these situations played out how they did tells me the staff are not properly trained. Since I work for them I cannot carry as a matter of employe policy but the facilities do have a no weapons policy. Not saying you shuld not carry, just do not be supprised if security is called and you are asked to take the weapon off campus.

Carry on!!

Yes to all of this... I have KP health insurance, and I'm also a physician (I don't work for KP). KP may have a "no gun" policy, but I've never seen it posted anywhere in their facilities. On the few occasions when I've had to go to KP, I've sometimes carried concealed...and the emphasis is on the word "concealed." If you go for a doctor visit, you can expect to be examined, and even have to disrobe for that. Gun was either in a fanny pack or cc jacket (both by Coronado Leather...financial disclosure: I have nothing to disclose). No one was the wiser, and that's the way I like it.

Didn't someone once say it's better to ask forgiveness than permission?

I had to take my wife to the Stanford emergency room a couple summers ago, and was shocked to find metal detectors at the entrance. I mean, Stanford of all places! Supposedly high-class stuff. I didn't have a concealed carry permit at the time, but I was royally pissed that I had to turn in my Swiss Army knife What a bunch of scardie-cats.

+1 on the scardie-cat its a swiss army knife what are they afraid you might do, tighten a loose screw on the waiting room chairs, open a can or bottle of wine, i mean for crying out loud, they should of taken your keys too, they are metal and pointy. That would of never happen to McGyver. I feel naked without my Swiss army knife. I would of told my wife I'll be waiting in the car.(just kidding)

I've never seen any signs prohibiting weapons at Kaiser and will continue to carry there until I see one/am asked not to, but mainly because my kaiser is in South Sacramento. (NOT a good area for those of you in other places.) I try not to even GO there at night, but with 3 boys...well you can guess how often I'm at the E.R.

When I have an appointment, I generally take my gun out of my holster and put it in my purse. If the doc/nurse sees my holster, it's never a concern. I had a doc ask one time about it, and I said, "Oh, I just got back from the range." I figured he didn't need to know I had a CCW.

My wife has kaiser and since there's no expectation of ME disrobing I have always carried. Since we're going (it seems like) twice a week every week for the pregnancy I've actually been surprised that nobody has even twitched. I generally carry a folding knife in my front pocket and security has definitely seen it (more surprising was how on the ball some of their security folks are). No problems at all. Mission hospital goons threw a hissy fit over my little knife/money clip when I was admitted last time.

Obviously the firearm is concealed so I'm not sure what their policy is at the kaiser sand canyon campus.

Don't ask, don't tell. If you don't see signs, don't worry about it.
