Default Noises in the night

Last week I recieved a call from my alarm system on my building 10 miles away, so I quickly checked the camera system on the computer. I didn't see anything or anybody on any of the cameras inside or out. I then called the alarm system so I can monitor any sounds inside the building. I did hear some noises but wasn't real sure what they were. No voices just sounds like maybe doors closing. I then decided well better go check it out. Now I can get to the building in about 10-15 minutes so I decided to call LEO and let them know the details. I brought my gun safely locked in a range bag with the mag in a seperate compartment and ammo in the box. Didn't want to get stopped for speeding with an open gun in the car.

When I first drove up I had to get my gun out load it etc. Wish I had my CCW now. I was able to get there check the building decide it was just the high heat making the building pop moan and groan and set off the alarm. I unloaded the gun put it away and waited for LEO. They showed up I told them who I was what I did and they said have a good night.

Not the most exciting event but it was interresting.

Ammo can be transported in the same container as the firearm. You can also have a loaded magazine in the same compartment as the firearm. The only thing you can't have is a loaded magazine inserted into the firearm.

Transporting handguns in California FAQ

While the PC is vague it is better to err on the side of caution rather than be a test case in the courts.

There already was a test case. Clark won.

People v. Clark

Quote:
The term "loaded" has a commonly understood meaning: "to put a load or charge in (a device or piece of equipment) a gun" or "to put a load on or in a carrier, device, or container; esp: to insert the charge or cartridge into the chamber of a firearm." (Webster's New Collegiate Dict. (1976) p. 674.) Under the commonly understood meaning of the term "loaded," a firearm is "loaded" when a shell or cartridge has been placed into a position from which it can be fired; the shotgun is not "loaded" if the shell or cartridge is
stored elsewhere and not yet placed in a firing position. The shells here were placed in a separate storage compartment of the shotgun and were not yet "loaded" as the term is commonly understood.
