In the early 1980s I attended a law enforcement association conference at Cal-Neva Casino/Hotel. When we checked in, they asked what group we were with. When we said LE association, we were informed that only Nevada and federal LEOs could carry firearms in the casino area. Nothing said about the hotel part.
In 2008 my wife and I, along with my brother-in-law (retired Oakland PD Sgt & Nevada resident) stayed overnight at a major Reno casino/hotel to see a show. We walked around downtown, watching the set up for Street of Thunder. When we returned, I noticed signs on the street level doors that stated the carrying of firearms inside was prohibited. Since I was carrying (HR-218) I was in violation. I also noticed when I went to my car in the garage that there were no such signs on the second level doors. These doors lead directly from the parking structure to the hotel registration desk. While most of the gambling was on the first floor, there were quite a few slot machines on the second level, with the gift shops, restaurants, etc.
