Do you ask every buisness you go to what their policy is?
If they have a concern perhaps they should post it at the door and on their website so we know what hotels to go to and which ones not to.

A hotel/motel room qualifies as your domicile, even for a one-night-stand--er, stay...

Property rights being what they are, any property owner has the right to make his/her own rules, but there must be a reasonable provision to make sure the people know the rules. So if a "no firearms" rule isn't prominently posted, or some such, CCW'ing, or pretty much anything else, is just like being in your own home.

I've done a lot of traveling around this country, and I've never encountered a firearms ban. My work has taken me to some places where it might not be a bad idea, though. But I would never consider staying in those dumps!

Gr8tfatman just got caught off gaurd. He was bringing his guns in at check in, it sounds like anyway. I normally don't take ANYTHING in with me at check in. That may help skirt the questioning. I usually wait and take my stuff in when i'm in for the night, or at least make a second trip in AFTER I've checked in.

I learned my lesson 22 years ago on our honeymoon. Went to Reno. Staying at Circus Circus (cut me some slack, i was 23 and STUPID). Anyway, loaded up one of those carts and wheeled it in to register. They said our room wouldn't be ready for another hour and wanted to put the cart in "storage" for us. I should have just demanded to put the stuff back in the car, but I was trying not to make a fuss. Finally I saw the head of security walk by and very quietly told him my delima, I had a gun case with 2 a Gold Cup and a Commander in it. He was very cool. Told the bell boy that he would secure the cart in his office. I don't think it was really his office, but it was a room that he could lock up and he told me when the room was ready to have the desk get ahold of him. Worked out ok, but I've never wanted to go through it again.

Besides, it IS a temporary residence so you should be able to possess it legally in your room. I always take mine with me and I KEEP IT CONCEALED AND TO MYSELF.
My feelings exactly.

gr8ftman

Dont tell them you have a concealed gun, dont let them copy your permit or even see it, they arent the police. DOH!
Just a piece of advice, check in, then go back, get the guns and take them straight to the room preferbly find a back entrance, most hotels have them for guests where you dont even have to walk through the lobby and take them in that way. NEVER NEVER NEVER tell someone like that you are carrying.

As polite upstanding citizens, we sometimes have an overwhelming urge to answer a simple question, even when we shouldn't. There are other choices, and sometimes it's better to employ them. For example: "Do you really provide guests with their own room-guns?"

On the other hand, maybe stenciling the words "Salt Water Only" in big letters on the bags might allow you to make some fishing jokes. Depends on how much you like advertising your baggage contents. Some gun cases don't look like they exclusively carry guns.

Legally, you're ok to carry loaded and concealed in your hotel room as it's a temporary residence. However, letting the hotel know you have firearms they can exercise their right to refuse service. So, you're legal, but could end up having to find another place to sleep.

It's no ones business what you're doing. All you need to worry about is if you're legal, outside of that, don't tell anyone.
